Uniquely formulated for hypersensitivity relief, NUPRO White Varnish releases more than 7 times the amount of fluoride over a 2-hour period than competitive fluoride varnishes, decreasing wear time and improving patient acceptance. The varnish comes in 4 flavors, and goes on white and sets clear.

Ease of Use (Consistency and Application)
Manufacturer Description: Because of its white color, NUPRO White Varnish is easy to see during application. Because of a unique formula that minimizes clumping and eliminates dripping and stringing, NUPRO White Varnish spreads easily, leaving a uniform film, and may be applied to a wet tooth surface. The flexible design of the package allows users to decide whether to snap the unit dose onto the prophy grip, hold it between the fingers, or rest it on the dental tray. NUPRO White Varnish is available in fill weights of .4 and .25 g of 5% sodium fluoride varnish, and comes with Microbrush Ultrabrush 2.0 applicators and a prophy grip.
Evaluator Feedback: When asked what they liked most about the varnish, 13 of the 14 evaluators identified features related to ease of use. Ease of use was rated as excellent by 10 evaluators and as very good by 3. Several evaluators commented on consistency, with remarks such as, “I like the texture; not too stringy or gloppy,” “not as sticky as other products I’ve used, but not so runny that it slides off,” and, “consistency was just right; not too runny or too thick and sticky. It didn’t make a mess; easy and clean.” “It seems to stick a lot better than most varnishes I’ve used,” said an evaluator who cited “the consistency upon application” as the feature she liked most. The same evaluator went on to say, “the consistency is better than any varnishes I have tried to this point.
When asked what they’d like to see improved, an evaluator who rated the product as excellent noted that, “the brush gets a little tacky with saliva mix.” Comments about the packaging ranged from, “I like that no varnish gets wasted; there is just enough product in each package,” to “I wish there was a little bit more varnish in the packaging,” and, “I wish the individual packet had less fluoride varnish in it.”

Evaluator Feedback: Patient comfort/acceptance was rated as excellent or very good by 13 evaluators, with most (9) rating it as excellent. Several evaluators identified patient acceptance as among the features they liked most, with comments including, “no kids complained about the taste or texture,” “the taste and smell don’t linger of alcohol like some other varnishes,” and, “patients preferred the taste of this to [that of the] current varnish I was using.” “Patients like the flavor and consistency,” noted a hygienist with 41 years of experience who rated all features as excellent. She went on to add that, “patients complained less about the way it feels on their teeth after application.” An evaluator who identified “taste and feel on the teeth” as the feature she liked most explained that, “it’s not too clumpy, rough, and sticky feeling.”
Esthetics

Evaluator Feedback: Thirteen of the 14 evaluators rated esthetics (dries clear) as excellent or very good, including a hygienist who rated all features as excellent, and said the varnish “sticks to teeth and stays clear and clean.” Another evaluator, a hygienist in practice for 23 years, identified the “great color match” as the feature she liked most, and gave the varnish an overall rating of excellent. “The clear finish made patients’ acceptance of the product much easier,” said a hygienist who rated all features as excellent.
Overall Satisfaction
All 14 evaluators described NUPRO White Varnish as much or somewhat better than similar products, and 93% reported that they would definitely or probably purchase the varnish and recommend it to their colleagues. “I think this is a great product and I wouldn’t hesitate to change my current varnish to NUPRO White Varnish the next time I order,” said an evaluator who called it much better than similar products.
