Optimize Super-Vac 40 Plus
For optimal suction performance, this powerful multi-enzyme concentrate effectively cleans and deodorizes evacuation systems and amalgam separators
Even when you’re doing everything right, sometimes, things can still go wrong. Just ask Dr. Jeffrey Briney who, along with his staff, dutifully performs daily maintenance protocols on his evacuation system, as well as isolated cleaning protocols in rooms where surgeries are performed.
Despite these valiant efforts, Dr. Briney’s 5-year-old evacuation system was struggling to perform consistently, with a constant reduction in suction during the afternoon hours. With 3 rooms regularly running suction 4 days a week in a practice with 5 operatories—which sometimes all run simultaneously—it’s easy to understand why Dr. Briney was a bit concerned about his evacuation system’s performance.
Who knew that making one simple change in his daily protocol could erase all those concerns while also erasing the debris in his lines? After trying Keystone’s Optimize Super-Vac 40 Plus evacuation cleaner for this DPS review, Dr. Briney noticed “a significant change in evacuation power,” and said, “The suction no longer lagged later in the day, especially when my hygienists and I were in the middle of procedures at the same time.”
A concentrated, liquid evacuation cleaner, SuperVac 40 Plus is a multi-enzyme, neutral pH formula that dissolves organic fluids and debris to maintain optimal suction. Recommended for daily use, the environmentally friendly formula is nonfoaming and safe for use on all evacuation equipment, including amalgam separators, and it deodorizes as it cleans. Reporting that he is “no longer worried that we’ll have to run a line cleaner in the middle of the day to get through the day,” Dr. Briney has permanently adopted Super-Vac 40 Plus as part of his practice’s daily routine. “Having the ability to run all 5 rooms without worrying about low power in our evacuation lines is a game changer,” he added.
Ease of Use
A liquid concentrate that comes in a 64-oz bottle, 1 bottle of Super-Vac 40 Plus makes 8 gallons of solution. “My assistants loved this product’s ease of use,” said Dr. Briney, who explained, “They felt the liquid allowed for a more consistent mix of the solution without the worry of clumping or inconsistent mixing/dilution.” Stating that his staff really liked the cleaner’s ease of use and concentrated formula, Dr. Andre Kanarki suggested including a measuring cup to eliminate the guesswork from the dilution process. Dr. Wayne Berman said Super-Vac 40 Plus effectively cleaned suction lines at the end of the day. Commenting that unit-dose packaging would be beneficial, dental assistant Heather Richardson suggested, “I believe an insert with illustrations showing the item in use would be a great adjunct!”
Cleaning Results
“Super-Vac 40 Plus works great and keeps the lines clean and free flowing,” said hygienist Donna Bethke, who noticed that “traps are cleaner than before, and the traps and filters stay cleaner longer.” After treating a patient with heavy calculus and bleeding, Bethke ran the cleaner through the lines and reported, “The suction line was clear and free of clogs.” For Corey Skriver, RDH, “Using the solution daily helps keep suction lines from clogging,” and Dr. Briney “loved the confidence of not having a lag of power in our evacuation system throughout the day.”
Having previously experienced lines that are sticky, hygienist Heather Giordano said Super-Vac 40 Plus “kept the lines clear and free of buildup” and was especially helpful after daily fluoride treatments. “The suction smelled and worked better” for Wendy Nato, EFDA, and assistant Analleli Rodriguez said it “eliminates odor and removes fluids and debris,” which was especially helpful after performing extractions.

Pleasant Mint Fragrance
“We really liked the pleasant scent more than anything else we’ve used,” said Shelley Gessler, RDH, who also praised the “pleasing color” of the Super-Vac 40 Plus. Also impressed by the cleaner’s mint fragrance, Nato said, “It doesn’t have a pungent scent like most chemicals,” and Dr. Jason Nguyen simply said, “It smells good.” Dr. Briney’s assistants commented on the “fresh smell, resulting in the confidence of a cleaner result,” and Bethke was pleased that the solution is nonfoaming. Praising the environmentally safe and noncorrosive formula, Richardson said, “The enzyme base removed saliva, blood, and debris and kept vacuum lines clean and running efficiently.”
Overall Satisfaction
The evaluators were especially impressed with the ease of use and efficiency of the Optimize Super-Vac 40 Plus concentrated cleaner, and its pleasant scent was a welcome bonus. “The ease of use and effective results make my job as a hygienist easier and more time efficient,” shared Bethke. “My assistants and hygienists love the ease of using the solution along with the confidence of knowing the lines are truly clean,” Dr. Briney concluded.
