KETTENBACH

Mucopren Soft

A comfortable, easy-to-use, soft denture reline material that ensures a strong and lasting bond to the denture base

mucopren soft

Want to know how well your denture reline material is working? Ask your receptionist. After all, it’s the person who answers the phones who can tell you how many patients call to complain about dentures that are slipping or causing sore spots—and how soon such issues arise after dentures are placed.

Your receptionist will likely be relieved to know Kettenbach has given them a well-deserved reprieve from those “I need to see my dentist today!” phone calls, thanks to Mucopren Soft, a long-lasting, highly functional, and comfortable A-silicone soft reline material that securely bonds to the denture base. After seeing firsthand that “Mucopren does indeed bond firmly to acrylic dentures,” Dr. Eugene Kim said Mucopren has “eliminated the uncertainty of delamination and a patient coming back or complaining” after denture placement.

Delighted that Mucopren Soft allowed a patient to wear his denture for 3 to 5 months while his implants healed, Dr. Gary Chike said, “This soft reline material appears to be one of the most resilient on the market due to curing in a heated bath.”

Ease of Use & Handling

Designed for easy and comfortable chairside use, Mucopren Soft is automatically mixed, applies in just minutes, and has a total setting time of 5 minutes, 30 seconds. Its superb mechanical properties allow comfortable processing and easy trimming with a steel bur.

Calling Mucopren “easy to mix with no voids,” Dr. Jennifer Chiang appreciated the “cleaner procedure and more efficient flow” but suggested a smaller tip for the sealant mix. Describing it as “easy to apply with less mess,” Dr. Jerry Horodowicz said it “stayed in place and had a good working time.” Pleased that “it comes in a gun and you don’t have to pre-mix,” Dr. Dena Constandelis said, “The consistency is perfect coming out.” Dr. David Yue said it was “great to not have to hand mix the material,” and appreciated Mucopren’s consistency, precise application, great texture, and no offensive odor. “Mucopren has great adhesion and is easy to work with and handle,” said Dr. Jeffrey Sachs. While Dr. Hatem Abdehadi said its ease of use “decreased my chair time,” Dr. Chike wondered if curing time could be reduced with both heat and pressure.

Retention/Durability

Whether used as a permanent soft lining or to reline temporary restorations, fabricate and reline obturators, or condition mucous membranes in patients with denture sores, Mucopren Soft eliminates concerns about delamination between the acrylic denture and the soft liner of the silicone. After bonding firmly to the acrylic denture with Kettenbach’s Mucopren adhesive, the reline material remains permanently elastic with a high loading capacity and heat resistance that produce outstanding adhesion over time.

After using other permanent soft reline materials that were “not very durable,” Dr. Sachs was impressed with Mucopren’s adhesion to the denture, which he described as “superior to that of other soft reline materials.” In fact, Dr. Sachs was able to successfully use the material 2 weeks after immediate denture placement in a patient he described as fragile. Hoping for a reliner that could be used on [a flexible partial brand], Dr. Constandelis called Mucopren “one of the better ones we’ve tried in terms of bonding and staying on the material.” Dr. Yue was able to improve the retention of an existing denture for a patient getting ready to attend a wedding, and Dr. Horodowicz relined an upper partial denture on a patient who had implants placed over healing screws.

Patient Benefits: Comfort, Function, & Esthetics

Mucopren compensates for mucous membrane areas with varying degrees of resiliency and is deigned to relieve the chronic sore spots of the mucous membrane, including sharp bony ridges and the surgical site after implant placement. Its smooth, hydrophobic silicone surface ensures long-term comfortable wear by protecting against microbial contamination.

Describing Mucopren as “user friendly with great retention,” Dr. Abdelhadi called it “great for implant overdentures” and said, “It doesn’t get caught in undercuts.” Dr. Horodowicz was impressed by its accuracy and the smooth surface against the tissues, and Dr. Sachs said his patients “report increased denture comfort.” When Mucopren was used to reline a failed soft reline, Dr. Kim said his patient “had no issues with delamination and felt very comfortable” with the results.

Mucopren’s “color and properties were perfect” for correcting a cosmetic problem that arose after placing a removable partial denture, said Dr. Gary Berman, who found the material particularly beneficial as a reliner after immediate denture/partial denture placement and after implant body placement under a complete or partial denture.

Overall Satisfaction

Positive comments dominated the feedback about Mucopren’s ease of use and lasting retention. Dr. Yue called it “a good automix solution with great adhesion, color stability, and lack of porosity.” And Dr. Berman concluded, “This is now my go-to product when I need to correct a space under an existing denture or partial denture after placement of implant bodies.”
