Easy-to-use clear aligner system with a short treatment time, few refi nements, quick turnaround time, and optimal esthetics 

There’s no doubt that dental technology is improving at an impressive rate—with new products, techniques, and materials constantly being introduced to the profession. In particular, customized clear aligners have gained popularity in recent years, with Fortune Business Insights projecting that the U.S. clear aligner market will grow 17% by 20281 . As more manufacturers offer competitive clear aligner systems and patients discover this affordable, esthetically appealing option, general dentists like Dr. Robert Kerschen are finding that “adding just one or two clear aligner cases a month can add $100,000 to the dental practice each year.”

Speaking specifically about SureSmile Clear Aligners from Dentsply Sirona, Dr. Kerschen said it is a “very easy system to get used to” that “is good for orthodontists and GPs.” Calling SureSmile “simple, reliable, and fun,” he said the system results in “very well-fitting aligners and great treatment results” and added, “It works and patients love it.”

Ease of Use

When Dr. Adam Beno switched to the SureSmile aligner system, he said the transition went smoothly, and he now enjoys “providing clear aligner treatment using an open source intraoral scanner” with guidance from an orthodontist, if necessary. Appreciating the digital workflow when using his intraoral scanner, Dr. Deano Furkioti, Jr., said the “quick turnaround times get the patients their aligners quicker,” and the “treatment time has been more efficient than with [another clear aligner provider].”

The SureSmile system is compatible with most scanners, like Dr. Ross Isbell’s CEREC Primescan, which he said gives him “a very simple workflow from scan to product for clear aligners.” He likes that SureSmile “is integrated for open-source acceptance of scanning and is also the preferred platform for Dentsply Sirona scanners.” Noting that the “software is almost self-explanatory,” Dr. Isbell said, “The workflow through Sirona Connect is seamless, and support is quick on design turnaround and printing.” He now discusses aligners with almost every patient and said, “Patients appreciate the ability to be scanned and treatment-planned quickly, and that there is an easy option to share video of the treatment plan prior to committing to treatment.” Dr. Kerschen likes the full digital workflow and the ability to print aligners with a 3D printer, and Dr. Jack Ringer enjoys the “seamless digital platform” that enhances treatment offerings.

Case Management

Patients who are treated with SureSmile have 50% fewer refinements than other clear aligner brands2 , according to Dentsply Sirona, which gives Dr. Craig Ratner “the ability to offer patients orthodontic tooth movement as a treatment modality while fitting nicely into our digital workflow.” Impressed with “individual tooth manipulation and the ability to erase and modify attachments,” orthodontist Dr. Corina Radu said SureSmile offers “the fi nesse of individual tooth movement in all 3 planes of space,” gives her “unparalleled control with fewer attachments and more retention,” and “allows me to give patients what they want for a lesser price and better quality.”

Calling them “great fitting aligners with great results,” Dr. Cord Schlobohm said SureSmile has increased his practice’s revenue. Dr. Kirsten Andrews successfully used SureSmile to “open a patient’s bite to place dental implants,” and Dr. Dominic Raymond II said SureSmile “does a nice job correcting the bite” and costs less than other doctor-directed clear aligners.

“Patients report that the aligners feel comfortable and are barely visible,” said Dr. Ratner, and Dr. Furkioti said SureSmile “improved patients’ bites and esthetics without the need for traditional wire braces.” Acknowledging that “patients want pretty smiles,” Dr. Andrews said SureSmile “allows me to give that to them without putting brackets on their teeth. You can’t even tell that a patient is wearing the aligners.”

Stating that he would recommend SureSmile aligners to colleagues because of the “great treatment outcomes and streamlined planning,” Dr. Beno praised the support he receives from Dentsply Sirona and said he enjoys their “many educational resources for further training and learning.” Dr. Furkioti was happy to report “many successful cases in which patients were thrilled with the fi nal esthetic results” and said, “Patients are loving it!” Dr. Ratner concluded, “SureSmile aligners are of high quality, offer a lot of customizable options, and provide good treatment outcomes.”
