Scotchbond Universal Etchant from 3M ESPE Dental Products is a low-viscosity etching gel used with Scotchbond Universal Adhesive. It is 32% phosphoric acid with a pH of approximately 0.1. This etching gel provides high bond strength to all indirect surfaces including zirconia, alumina, glass ceramics, and metals, without a separate primer. The gel has a distinct blue color to help in complete rinsing away of the etchant. The excellent marginal integrity of the gel allows for highly esthetic restorations. It features a flexible dispensing tip that can be individually adjusted before application for convenience.
