When placing indirect restorations, achieving a predictable, long-lasting bond is essential to long-term success. But even the most carefully planned case can fall apart if the restorative surface is contaminated.
That’s exactly why BISCO’s ZirClean and TheraCem team up to deliver what can best be described as a “clean” cementation. First, ZirClean non-abrasively cleans the bonding surface of the restoration after intraoral try-in. Then, TheraCem steps in to cement the restoration with its dual-cure, self-adhesive properties and long-term adhesion.
Together, ZirClean and TheraCem “make cementation more efficient and less stressful,” Dr. Michael Nishime said. “The cement cleanup is very easy, and the cementation process has fewer steps because no bonding agent is needed,” he explained. Overall, he’s very pleased with this “simpler and quicker method to cement crowns.”
Removes Surface Contaminants
By removing surface contaminants from zirconia, ceramic, and metal restorations after try-in, ZirClean helps achieve reliable adhesive cementation results.*
Admitting that he was “never sure a crown was completely cleaned” prior to cementation, Dr. Raymond Lee turned to ZirClean and now has complete “peace of mind that the internal surface of the crown is clean.” He also said the material “is easy to apply and clean up.”
Dr. Marisol King liked ZirClean’s “nonabrasive formula and easy dispensing,” and declared, “I love that it removes saliva contaminants.” A Maryland dentist said, “It cleans the zirconia contamination after try-in very well,” and Dr. Kyle Lisenby called ZirClean “easy to use and dependable for cementing zirconia crowns.”
Reliable Cementation, Easy Cleanup
TheraCem is a dual-cured, self-adhesive resin cement delivered via automix dual syringe. It provides a strong bond to zirconia and most substrates, and offers reliable cementation for crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and posts.
“TheraCem is easy to handle, easy to mix, easy to clean up, and doesn’t need to be refrigerated,” Dr. King shared. “I really like the calcium- and fluoride-releasing properties and the alkaline pH,” she added.
Dr. Lisenby said, “I love the delivery; it has great working time and is easy to clean up.” Praising TheraCem’s “easy application and predictable results,” Dr. Lee called it “a nice solid resin cement,” but would like the option of an enamel shade.
Satisfied that he could cement “multiple crown placements in a row,” Dr. Ross Oberschlake said, “TheraCem is efficient and cleans up well,” while Dr. Nilay Nanavati shared, “It is easy to clean up after a tack cure.”
Dr. Mustafa Makati described TheraCem as “a good all-around cement with enough working time to clean contacts before it sets.” Dr. Etta Lobel said TheraCem paired perfectly with ZirClean, which she has used for years. “So far, no crowns came off, and the cleanup was easy,” she noted.
A Powerful Pair for a Long-Lasting Bond
ZirClean aids in creating a clean bonding surface of zirconia and other prosthetic restorations after intraoral try-in, allowing clinicians to achieve the best bonding results when using TheraCem for final cementation.
Pointing out that “TheraCem does not need an extra step of primer to bond to zirconia,” Dr. Kalpesh Mehta explained, “The experience is always good when there are fewer steps and fewer products to use during crown cementation. ZirClean and TheraCem do just that.”
“ZirClean and TheraCem provide an easy workflow for cementation of indirect restorations, especially posterior molar zirconia restorations,” Dr. Nanavati said. Without the need for a separate bonding agent, Dr. Nishime said interproximal contacts don’t get bonded together, which simplifies cement cleanup.
When Dr. Lee’s patient presented with a loose zirconia crown after 2 failed recementations, he decided it was “a perfect time to use both ZirClean and TheraCem.” After the procedure, he felt confident.
Similarly, Dr. Mehta cleaned a patient’s debonded crown with ZirClean before recementing it with TheraCem. “It has stayed on without any problems,” he shared.
Overall Satisfaction
After using ZirClean and TheraCem for numerous full-coverage zirconia restorations, Dr. King declared, “I really like the properties of both products, and I have not received one instance of a patient reporting postop sensitivity.”
Dr. Oberschlake now enjoys having “an economical and effective method of cleaning a crown and cementation,” ultimately declaring that “ZirClean and TheraCem give me confidence in my cementation process.”
Noting the combination of ZirClean and TheraCem worked especially well “for implant cases when cementing a zirconia crown to an abutment,” Dr. Nishime concluded, “These excellent products make the cementation process much easier; I highly recommend them.”
