Shear Bond Strength is a test method we use at Bisco in order to determine how strong different dental materials adhere to dental substrates. For example, we take dentin, apply an adhesive, attach a post made from composite to that adhesive and use a shear force to break off that post. This tells us how strong our adhesive is. We apply adhesives in total-etch and self-etch mode on different substrates, including enamel and zirconia.
