Sometimes you have to see the difference to believe it.
That's what happened with Dr. Rich Cooper at West Loop Dental Associates in Chicago when he compared an image from Schick 33 to Schick CDR.

I'm Dr. Rich Cooper. I practice here at West Loop Dental Associates in the heart of Chicago. I've been practicing here for roughly 14 years and I've been practicing dentistry for the last 17 years.
When I graduated dental school and the first couple years after, all of the other offices I associated at were pretty much all film offices. So it was basically let's take a full mouth set of x-rays, we'll wait 15 minutes for the processing and we'll see and hope that we got everything we needed the first time through.
When we actually got into looking at some of the images that were coming with the Schick 33, I knew almost instantly that we needed to upgrade. The image quality was so much greater on a Schick 33 that it almost made my CDRs look like film.
Just to be able to focus in on an image, modify the image, you can change the contrast -- the darkness and the lightness -- to be able to detect any abnormalities in the mouth, you can't do that with traditional radiology.
The problem with the CDR was that over time, the cable would detach a little bit. And we haven't had any issues now because Schick 33 offers a detachable cable. The cable comes in different lengths so I don't have to rewire my units. All my units were basically adaptable. I didn't have to do anything other than plug in the new sensor, calibrate it and it was ready to go.
Over the years, I have started with Schick and I started with the CDR. We're also using CEREC and CEREC Omnicam. All of these integrated perfectly right in with Patterson's EagleSoft so it was a seamless transition.
With Sirona, we were purchasing all of our equipment through a supplier, and our supplier of choice is Patterson. So from a support standpoint, at least on the Sirona products, they're second to none. They'll fix anything you need, if my machine for some reason is not synching up or if it goes down, they're out there the same day, the next day and they've got it solved.
There was so much that we were missing with traditional film that now it's crystal clear. Just to treat the patient to the best standards and that's the way to go.
