Designed to help clinicians work with a neutral posture, ErgoPrism loupes help alleviate neck, shoulder, and back pain while illuminating the oral cavity

Sit up straight, eyes forward, chin up!” It’s a phrase that echoed endlessly throughout our childhoods, said by well-meaning teachers in search of our full and undivided attention. But just as wiggly kids in a classroom struggle to stare at a chalkboard for hours on end, many dentists aren’t used to looking straight ahead during patient care—that is, unless they’re wearing an ErgoPrism loupe.

“You’ll hate them for a day, then you’ll wonder how you ever practiced without them,” said one of many ErgoPrism users who have found relief from neck, back, and shoulder pain after taking a chance on the patent-pending design of these loupes, which enables clinicians to work with a neutral posture that doesn’t bend or twist the joints.

“The ErgoPrism allows for a true and natural posture for the provider,” confirmed Jeffrey Briney, DDS. “After just 2 weeks of using them, I noticed that my neck, shoulders, and back were much more relaxed. I left the office more refreshed vs strained.”

Get the 'Perfect' Posture

While Dr. Briney has relied on dental microscopes and standard magnification loupes to enhance his vision throughout 25 years in practice, ErgoPrism loupes have been a revelation. “Since I use a microscope for certain procedures, I was able to adapt very quickly. My hygienists and assistants adjusted within a week and now cannot imagine going back to direct vision loupes,” he said. “The way I practice dentistry changed the day I put ErgoPrism loupes on my head.”

For Dr. Briney, the proof is in the posture, a fact made clear after a recent run-in with a doorframe that left his ErgoPrism loupes bent out of shape. "I switched back to my direct vision loupes for a week and felt severe back, neck, and shoulder pain," he said. "I put two and two together and realized that my bad posture returned with my old loupes."

A Better Focus Within Reach

When it comes to brightness, headlights include the ProLUX, airLUX, and a new touch-free, semi-wireless waveLUX that lasts up to 12 hours.

“The ErgoPrism loupes paired with the ProLUX headlight are surprisingly much lighter than my previous loupes,” noted Dr. Briney. “The clarity is far superior—especially with the ability to change the focus manually via the Vario WD feature.”

Vario WD allows clinicians to adjust their working distance by simply turning the barrel on the end of the telescope to fine-tune the focus.

“I recommend a 4.3x or 5.0x magnification paired with the ProLUX LED headlight. This combo is light as a feather and offers the brightest illumination with the longest battery life I have experienced,” said Dr. Briney. “Our profession is known for its poor posture while treating patients, and being able to finally feel a neutral and healthy posture is astonishing.”
