Premier proudly introduces 2 exciting products to round out its tissue management portfolio and complement its line of zirconia-focused materials

For over 50 years, Premier Dental has delivered high-quality tissue management and hemostasis products—Hemodent, a market-leading liquid aluminum chloride; Knit-Pak+ gingival retraction cord; and Traxodent paste. Dentists rely on these products daily to create the ideal environment for impressions.

To round out its already strong tissue management portfolio, Premier adds gel to the mix, introducing 2 new options: Traxodent Gel AICI and Traxodent Gel FS.

“The gels represent a middle ground between a liquid and a paste,” said Dr. Jason Goodchild, VP of Clinical Affairs at Premier. “They’re easy to place around the area dentists want to manage, and because they’re not as runny as a liquid, they’ll stay put.”

Tissue Management for All

Traxodent Gel AICI contains 25% aluminum chloride and has a clear, nonstaining formula that rinses clean, while the easy-to-handle Traxodent Gel FS contains 20% ferric sulfate. Why the 2 options? Some dentists believe an iron-containing product like Traxodent Gel FS is more effective, while others prefer aluminum chloride because it may be gentler on tissue. Now, they can achieve hemostasis regardless of preference or the patient sitting in the chair.

“Our goal is to become the go-to tissue management and hemostasis company,” Dr. Goodchild said, “so we added 2 really nice, effective hemostatic gels at a good price point.”

Zirconia from Start to Finish

Premier also is debuting UniClean universal restorative cleaner, which Dr. Goodchild has long advocated. Dental substrates have evolved quite a bit over the years, with zirconia now a popular option. But if zirconia isn’t properly cleaned after try-in, saliva and other contaminants left behind will negatively impact bond strength. Just rinsing it with water or using phosphoric acid won’t do.

"UniClean is an easy-to-use option that gives clinicians the best chance to achieve maximum bond strength after cementation,” Dr. Goodchild said.

20 Seconds to an Optimized Bond

Placing a drop that covers the inside of the crown does the trick, so clinicians can confidently finish the rest of the procedure. There’s no shaking required, and application takes only 20 seconds.

“We have a primer for zirconia, we have ZR-Cem, which is specially designed and optimized for cementing zirconia, but we didn’t have a cleaner, which is the first step in the process,” Dr. Goodchild explained. “Every zirconia crown needs to be cleaned before it’s cemented, so we thought, wouldn’t it be nice to add that piece to the puzzle?”
