A Provisional Resin That’s Fast, Strong, and Esthetic
Access Crown is a unique, MMA-free bis-acryl resin for durable, highly esthetic provisional restorations—
providing fast and easy handling with less waste
A lot is expected of provisionalization materials. Designed to be “placeholders,” they must protect prepared teeth while permanent restorations are being fabricated. While strictly for short-term use, provisional materials must still perform as if they’re permanent, look reasonably esthetic, and be easy to handle in an efficient timeframe. It’s a large set of shoes to fill, but Dr. Gregori M. Kurtzman believes Access Crown meets that challenge.
“I’ve been using Access Crown in my practice for more than 8 years to make provisional crowns and bridges,” Dr. Kurtzman explained.
Strong and Durable
Centrix’s Access Crown is a bis-acryl provisional resin material with unique elastic polymerization characteristics. This “memory” characteristic means clinicians can remove Access Crown easily from undercuts or non-parallel preps and it will return to its original form. In addition to low shrinkage and low heat generation, Access Crown has a high compressive and high flexural strength, as well as a more homogenous mix for stronger provisional restorations.
“It’s very strong—I’ve never had any of my temporaries break or chip, whether they’re single units or bridges,” Dr. Kurtzman said. “Some of the other materials I have used in the past tended to chip, but Access Crown is definitely more durable and can even be used as a long-term provisional.”
“It’s easy to use, durable, polishes well, has a nice gloss, and overall just a great material. I’m very happy with it.”

Unique MMA-Free Formulation
Radiopaque for accurate diagnostics, Access Crown provides fast, ideal handling. The material quickly reaches an elastic state and is ready for easy removal in less than 60 seconds. Access Crown is also MMA-free, with no unpleasant taste or smell, a benefit appreciated by Dr. Kurtzman’s patients.
“In the past, when I used MMA-style acrylic temporary materials, my patients would mention the unpleasant taste and smell, and some patients would also have tissue irritation. With Access Crown, none of these issues ever come up,” Dr. Kurtzman shared.
Another benefit of the MMA-free formulation is that because of its unique bis-acryl formulation, the material can be easily added to or reshaped. “You can add to this for repair if you need to, and the material sticks very well, which is not something I’ve seen with some of the previous provisional materials I’ve used,” Dr. Kurtzman said.
Enhanced Color Stability
Highly polishable with enhanced color stability for less staining, Access Crown is available in BL, A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, and C2 shades and provides high fluorescence and natural esthetics, especially important for demanding patients who want their provisionals to look natural and not like a “temporary.”
“It polishes very easily and it’s smooth to the tongue and lips. Having a smoother surface means it’s not going to pick up a lot of coffee or tea stains,” explained Dr. Kurtzman. “It’s a comfortable material that really tolerates use well.”
Reduced Waste = Increased Efficiency
Centrix’s SuperMixer, super-efficiency mixing tips are narrower, smaller, and shorter than traditional mixing tips, which results in reduced waste and amazingly, up to 38 more uses per each cartridge than other systems.
“Centrix has modified and improved the mixing tips to make them narrower, smaller, and shorter, so you’re going to get more usable material out of each cartridge than you would with other temporization materials, and there’s much less waste,” he said.
“I’ve probably used most of the products on the market over the course of my 36 years in practice, and Access Crown is really an operatory staple for me,” Dr. Kurtzman said. “It’s easy to use, durable, polishes well, has a nice gloss, and overall just a great material. I’m very happy with it.”
