A Smart Platform that Equips Your Practice for Success

Protect the life of your new compressors and vacuums with 24/7 cloud monitoring, while keeping an eye on your handpieces with a patented RFID tracking chip. The Aeras Intelligence Platform is available on select Star handpieces, as well as Ramvac air compressors and vacuums.

When you’ve navigated the competitive and economically challenging world of dentistry for 100 years—and done so successfully—most would think there’d be no reason to change course. Queue the “don’t mess with success” phrase. But not if you’re DENTALEZ. A dental supply company with a vast product line encompassing everything from handpieces and utility room equipment to teaching models and simulation manikins, DENTALEZ took the ubiquitous pivot about 7 years ago— and changed its focus.

“We restarted listening to our customers,” said Heather Trombley, President and Chief Operating Officer at DENTALEZ.

“We realized the biggest issue people face concerns time constraints, and the amount of work to do. So we began to focus every effort we have on technology that makes it easier to do dentistry, so clinicians can focus on patient outcomes without worrying about the numerous types of equipment around them.”

With her background in the medical industry, Trombley saw the value smart technology, analytics, and data has played in advancing patient healthcare, and believed similar steps could be taken in the dental industry that could streamline dentists’ workflows.

Data that Streamlines

The logical place to start was in the company’s Aeras Intelligence Platform, a unique technology that collects data, shares information, and streamlines a practice’s standard of care. The end result? Improved practice efficiency, more successful patient outcomes, and increased ROI.

“Aeras technology allows for easier operation of devices for the dentist, which translates into a better experience as soon as a patient sits in the dental chair,” Trombley explained.

Adding the ‘Smarts’

DENTALEZ integrated the Aeras Intelligence Platform into 2 vital components in today’s practices: the Ramvac utility room line of vacuums and compressors, and Star handpieces.

“Today, we have solutions available in Ramvac and Star that are ready to go—turnkey—that can help practices create and leverage data,” explained Neil McCaffrey, Vice President, Commercial Operations, at DENTALEZ.

The Aeras Dental Vacuum Systems by Ramvac use a cloud-based system to monitor equipment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The “smart” system generates text or email notifications when maintenance is required, allowing practices to stay ahead of potential problems. Additionally, it can be powered up or down remotely from any location, which means units can be turned on or off on a schedule for energy savings. There are no wires or WiFi to connect to or apps to download because the equipment connects automatically through cellular means and information is accessed through any web browser. A comprehensive dashboard provides a bird's eye view of a practice’s entire back-office operations, including detailed technical outputs, configuration options, and service records. In addition, technicians can access each unit remotely, saving time and cost of service appointments.

“The Aeras platform now allows us to move beyond avoiding service disruptions, which affect patient outcomes and the workday—not to mention the overall profitability of a practice,” McCaffrey added.

Aeras Dental Air CompressorsAeras Dental Air Compressor

Like Aeras Vacuums, Aeras Dental Air Compressors by Ramvac include round-the-clock monitoring and protection at no charge. The Ramvac product line includes the C3-12, C3-12SS, C5-12, and C5-12SS dual-voltage models that can work with both 115- and 230-volt electrical installations. Larger sizes that can accommodate up to 18 users are also available on the Aeras platform, including the C8-2, C12-2, and C18-2. An improved 100% duty cycle motor design allows for continuous, consistent airflow and all models are lighter and quieter than previous models—with no need for bulky sound covers—due to an integrated Sound Shield that provides a sound level as quiet as human conversation.

“Dual voltage means you can have a single compressor unit on the shelf in a service branch location that works on both a 115- and 230-volt circuit, so you don’t have to manage 2 different models depending on the electrical requirements,” McCaffrey said. “It saves inventory space and the versatility helps solve clients’ needs faster and more efficiently. It also is lighter and substantially quieter and has a smaller footprint, and we recognize that utility rooms are not getting any larger and our customers are facing incredible challenges out there.”

Dry air prevents bacteria growth and air is filtered to 0.01 microns, which effectively traps most airborne microbes. The compressor is backed by the industry’s longest warranty period, with all parts covered for up to 6 years.

Taking Aeras a Step Further…aeras recommended product

DENTALEZ took the Aeras Intelligence Platform a step further by integrating it into the company’s storied line of Star handpieces. With the ability to access critical data such as usage, sterilization, warranty, and maintenance that’s tracked in the cloud software, practices can use the data to identify inefficiencies and make improvements in their daily workflows. The system works by using a patented radio-frequency identification (RFID) tracking chip embedded in the handpiece, so practices can closely monitor their handpieces with automated data. The Aeras platform of smart handpieces includes the Aeras 500 Elite Handpiece, the Aeras 400 Flex Handpiece, and the Aeras Titan Low-Speed System. All 3 Aeras handpieces offer greater in-hand stability with exceptional balance to minimize effort and fatigue, exclusive LubeFree technology, and the convenience of in-office turbine replacements that ensure the handpieces are always ready to go.

“We’ve embedded the RFID in all our Aeras handpieces, which allows practices to gather data and see activity,” said McCaffrey. “What’s driving profitability and what is sitting around collecting dust? And, we also know that whenever you multiply this across locations, the impact on ROI is substantial.”

“With our Aeras Platform, we want to take everyday tasks that get in the way of the value-added patient experience and make them simpler,” Trombley explained. “I think that’s part of what’s exciting about our solutions, and the future. We are laser-focused on making it simpler and easier to practice dentistry,” she added.
