Addent: Calset Warmer
A key to success in direct composite restorations, Calset Warmer improves material flow by 68% while reducing microleakage and shrinkage stress
In dentistry, achieving consistently successful restorative outcomes is essential to building a healthy business and a network of happy patients. So, any tool that can help improve your likelihood of success is certainly worth a shot. At least, that was the case for Dr. Mark Kleive. Three years ago, he introduced AdDent’s Calset 3D Tray into his Black Mountain, NC, practice, and has since found that warming composite material before delivery plays a key role in achieving strong and esthetic restorative outcomes.
“Warming composite offers superior handling properties compared with room temperature composite—for example, an increased depth of cure, increased fracture toughness, and lower shrinkage forces,” explained Dr. Kleive. “It makes every procedure easier, and the outcomes that I now achieve with my composite restorations are outstanding.”

The Right Temperature for Success
An ideal choice when different composite shades are needed, the Calset 3D Tray holds and warms compules in 3 dispenser guns at once, with space for warming 4 extra compules and one finishing instrument or syringe as well. Also available from AdDent, the Calset Tri-Tray warms 3 spare compules and 2 finishing instruments, while the Calset Multi-Tray holds 4 spare compules, 2 placement instruments, and 2 syringes.
When heated to the correct temperature, composite mate-rial adopts a lower viscosity that more easily fl ows and adapts to the cavity walls, while increasing the strength and maintaining the physical properties of a room-temperature composite. The Calset Warmer heats composite to a safe temperature that patients normally encounter during daily food intake, and then begins to cool during the sculpting phase.“
Preheated composite is so much easier to manipulate,” shared Dr. Kleive. “And while I may cure the material for the same amount of time, I’m more confident that I’m placing a superior restoration when using warmed composite.”
A Small Footprint
Dr. Kleive enjoys that in addition to improving the fl ow and physical properties of his composite materials, Calset 3D Tray is extremely versatile. For example, it features preset temperature adjustments of 98°F, 130°F, and 155°F, as well as large and small slots to hold syringes or single-dose composites. “I like the smaller physical size of the Calset warming system compared to other products on the market,” he concluded.
