While Gemini is a well-known astrological sign bestowed upon individuals born in the months of May and June, it’s also the moniker of a powerful soft-tissue diode laser designed by Ultradent. After the Gemini laser made its debut as the first-ever dual-wavelength soft-tissue diode laser in 2015, the newly released Gemini EVO laser now ushers in the next generation of laser technology.

Packed with new features such as a user-friendly dashboard, built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, and 100-watt peak power—a significant increase over the 20-watt peak power of the Gemini 810 + 980—the Gemini EVO allows clinicians to perform virtually pain-free procedures with fast, precise, and clean incisions.

“The original Gemini 810 + 908 was—and still is—great,” explained Ron Kaminer, DDS. As one of the country’s first clinicians to use dental lasers in his practice, Dr. Kaminer teaches laser dentistry to his peers throughout the world and believes the increased wattage available with the Gemini EVO laser allows him to cut much faster at a lower wattage, minimizing the potential for thermal damage.

A Versatile Workhorse

The Gemini EVO laser allows dentists to use the dual wavelengths of 810 nm and 980 nm together or individually, providing access to a total of 3 wave-length modes. Adjustable tip illumination provides better visibility at the surgical site, while 3 photobiomodulation adapters in 3-, 7-, and 25-mm sizes cover small treatment areas around the lips, localized spot treatments for aphthous and herpetic ulcers, and large spots such as the area around the TMJ.

“In my practice, we’ve used the Gemini EVO laser for just about everything,” Dr. Kaminer added. “It’s also a frequent part of our hygiene treatment,” he said. Every hygienist in his practice is laser-certified, so the Gemini EVO laser is often used in a variety of hygiene procedures, especially when controlling periodontal disease.

Simple by Design

Designed for ease of use, the Gemini EVO laser has 16 preset procedures divided into 3 different categories, which helps minimize user error and boost efficiency. A unique Dashboard feature allows doctors to track ROI, access usage statistics, view procedure reports, and more. “It’s really cool to have it keep track of revenue,” said Dr. Jaimee Morgan. “This is something that’s going to allow you to provide more and better services for your patients, and you’ll actually recoup the money you invested.”
