Handpieces serve as workhorses in dental practices, making it critical for dentists to fi nd options that work well in their hands. The Maxima Advanced High-Speed Air Handpiece from Henry Schein has become a go-to for many dental professionals, and when you look at its list of features, it’s easy to see why.

Optimal cutting power, quiet operation, aerosol reduction, an antislip grip, Active-Stop Technology, and a versatile rpm range are among the handpiece’s most sought-after features. It provides high cutting power and smooth operation for shorter, more efficient procedures—getting patients out of the chair and on with their day faster while allowing dentists to see more patients.

Dr. Christina Tran has seen that play out in her practice. She explained that compared to other handpieces, Maxima Advanced offers improved cutting and speed, allowing her “to prep faster and decrease the amount of time the patient is in the chair.”

Less Noise for a Better Experience

No one—dental team members and patients included—likes a noisy handpiece. Hand-piece chatter can be stressful for patients who may already be nervous about treatment, as well as disruptive and bothersome for team members.

Henry Schein took that to heart when designing Maxima Advanced, giving it a 12% reduction in noise compared to the previous model.

Dr. Nate Lewis, who tried out the Maxima Advanced in hopes of finding a quieter handpiece, discovered, “It’s comparable with my [current handpiece brand] and better than other brands.”

A Smooth Operator

The Maxima Advanced handpiece is small and easy to hold, and it features a textured grip. Dentists describe it as comfortable and easy to maneuver.

“Overall, the Maxima Advanced handpiece was good,” Dr. Reem Mahjoub said. “It had a clean, smooth appearance and felt good in the hand.”

Maxima Advanced offers smooth operation with no bouncing or vibration, and burs won’t come loose, an issue with other handpieces. It makes procedures more efficient and comfortable for all.

When using it to remove an existing bridge and to prep, Dr. James Snow said “it worked very well and did not burn through a lot of burs. It also kept chair time minimal.”
