Almost a decade ago, BISCO set out to create a universal composite that would address the biggest pain points of dental restorative materials, including issues with handling, strength, and shade selection.

Those efforts resulted in Quantium, a highly radiopaque, light-cured composite that’s packable at room temperature and includes unit doses, which can be warmed for a flowable consistency, without sacrificing strength or performance. Quantium also minimizes instrument pullback for easier placement.

“With Quantium, we wanted to create a composite that has the least amount of stickiness, so when dentists are handling it, it’s not going to stick to the instrument,” said Dr. Rolando Nuñez, BISCO’s Manager of Clinical Marketing. “Stainless steel, plastic…it doesn’t matter. It’s not going to stick, and that’s a huge advantage.”

Beautiful Results

Not only does Quantium offer improved handling and durability, it delivers the esthetics patients want.

Composites tend to come in 1 universal shade. While convenient, they often don’t look natural. BISCO went a different direction with Quantium, offering a range of 6 VITA shades in enamel and body translucencies for enhanced esthetics.

Quantium is formulated with various filler sizes, giving it high polishability, Dr. Luis Abrahante said.

“What I really like about Quantium is that it’s not opaque—you can just grab any regular polisher and get a shine out of it really quickly,” he said.

Quantium also exhibits low shrinkage. For example, when Dr. Abrahante uses other composites on Class I or II restorations, a white halo between the composite and the tooth often shows up in pictures. That hasn’t been an issue with Quantium.

A Leap Forward

BISCO’s Quantium represents a leap forward in restorative dentistry, providing a material that offers exceptional handling, strength, radiopacity, polishability, and esthetics for both anterior and posterior restorations.

“It polishes well, has great esthetics, and it handles really, really well,” Dr. Abrahante concluded.
