Overview

Being able to provide implant-supported replacements for missing posterior teeth simply, without having to resort to complex grafting procedures, is always going to be a benefit to your patients and to any dentist in General Practice.

Short implants work very well. They can be at least as successful as standard sizes. This course will provide you with a knowledge of what they are and how they work. Short implants need not be restricted to sites with inadequate bone height, but we must understand how the available bone height influences implant survival and complication rates.

Factors such as the strength of the components, connection stability, crown height, bone strength and splinting will impact on the success of the short implant so it is important to investigate these.

Once these issues are identified, we can plan our replacements and decide if short implants will work in a case.

By attending this webinar you will learn:

  • What constitutes a short implant
  • Why did short implants have a bad reputation and what’s changed
  • What features of a short implant influence survival and reduce complications
  • How to optimize chances of success with short implants in the posterior maxilla and mandible
