The Right Flow for  Efficiency and Esthetics

BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow is a versatile hybrid composite that combines COLTENE’s unique Duo Shade system with precise delivery and excellent flowability

In dentistry and our wider world, anything that allows us to kill two birds with one stone is a good thing—especially if it leads to greater efficiency and esthetics. COLTENE’s Duo Shade system is a prime example. Thanks to the system’s optical blend-in properties, each Duo Shade covers two VITA shades at the same time, for example, creating an A1/B1 or A2/B2 shade. “The idea of grouping the shades together and offering two shades in one makes things a little bit simpler,” said DPS evaluator Dr. Roger Urlaub, adding, “It does have a good chameleon effect. So, even if you’re off by half a shade, it will still blend in incredibly well.” During a recent DPS product review, Dr. Urlaub put one of COLTENE’s newest innovations to the test, BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow, which offers 8 Duo Shades across 3 translucency levels. “The material polishes extremely well, and I like the fact that it is fairly opaque. It’s very useful when blocking out thinner marginal walls or darker dentin areas without graying them out.”

“Some other materials on the market are too viscous and runny. With BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow, it’s very easy to place as much as you need, but with much more accuracy.”

Benefits that Go Beyond Shade Matching

In addition to simplified shade matching and a chameleon effect, BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow is designed to offer precise delivery, ideal flowability, and optimal esthetics—3 reasons that Dr. Urlaub intends to purchase and continue using this unique flowable material.  “I think the small tip is fantastic,” he said. “Some other materials on the market are too viscous and runny. With BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow, it’s very easy to place as much as you need, but with much more accuracy.” Dr. Urlaub recently used the hybrid composite to restore a large Class V lingual lesion on the lower canine. “I was able to place it exactly where I wanted it and finesse it into the ideal shape using just a dental explorer tip —without the material running all over the place.” BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow is designed for versatility, and among its many indications, Dr. Urlaub often uses it as a core material for in-office milled restorations, to block out undercuts and amalgam internal dark stains, or as a flowable build-up material. It also can be used to fill smaller, hard-to-reach areas on roots, as a liner/base or void filler, or for Class V abfraction restorations and Class II floors.

Long-Term Success

After 40 years of successful practice and offering his professional feedback on dozens of products as a trusted DPS evaluator, Dr. Urlaub knows a thing or two about whether or not a product will deliver on its promises in the long run. “That’s the biggest telltale sign of a successful product—that I’m willing to purchase it even after using a product sample.”
