Bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens are everywhere. From the outside world to within our dental practices, they are there, and steps must be taken to ensure safety for practices and their patients. Certain factors must be in place in order for the pathogens to spread from person to person and cause disease. These factors link together in a “chain of infection.” Breaking one of the links in this chain will stop the spread of infection. In this course, we will discuss the basics of disease transmission and the CDC infection control recommendations for the dental professional.
