Every day, patients walk through the doors of their dental practice expressing a common desire: to see a straighter smile in the mirror. But what they often overlook is the process that will lead them to that coveted outcome.

“I’ve trained my team to talk to these patients about clear aligner therapy,” said Marc Geissberger, DDS, MA, who owns a thriving general practice in Greenbrae, CA. “Then, the conversation is centered around the procedure itself vs solely on the solutions that can provide straighter smiles.”

As the demand for clear aligner therapy continues to surge, clinicians also are faced with a multitude of options. For Dr. Geissberger and his team, Clarity Aligners from Solventum—formerly known as 3M Health Care—has become their top choice for successful clear aligner treatments.

“Once the patient is better educated about how we can straighten their teeth, we introduce Clarity Aligners and discuss the numerous benefits,” he said. “I feel this approach has been critical for us as we initiate clear aligner therapy.”

Digital Treatment Planning

Clarity Aligners are designed to treat mild to moderate malocclusions, including crowding, spaces, midline discrepancy, open or deep bites, overjet, crossbite, and Class II and III. Laboratory testing has shown that the hooks and cutouts in the Clarity Aligners Flex + Force materials are durable.

“The thin, straight-cut aligner design and proprietary copolymer are very beneficial,” Dr. Geissberger added. “These aligners fit accurately and won’t slip off the teeth, and they move the teeth extremely well. I’ve noticed that my number of refinements and prolonged treatment times have decreased dramatically since using them.”

Clarity Aligners are custom-designed in the Oral Care Portal, which streamlines every step of the treatment planning and ordering process with expert clinical support and access to educational resources. “The portal is very user-friendly,” Dr. Geissberger noted. “There’s been a lot of time dedicated to developing its treatment protocols, which really helps set up our patient cases for success.”

Clear & Comfortable Aligner Therapy

Clarity Aligners have excellent force persistence, maintaining a consistent force over 2 weeks that is comparable to the original Flex material, while a variety of affordable single- and dual-arch treatment options add to the overall value.

“Patients tell me that they experience no discomfort, and that the aligners are so clear and comfortable that they sometimes forget they’re wearing them,” Dr. Geissberger concluded. “Overall, they are really pleased with the aligners’ fit and esthetics.”
