Developed using VOCO’s patented nano-ORMOCER technology, Admira Fusion Flow offers clinicians biocompatibility, low polymerization shrinkage and shrinkage stress, and stain resistance. This predictable, compatible material has become a must-have in Dr. Mark Malterud’s practice in St. Paul, MN.

DPS: How does Admira Fusion Flow stand out from other direct restorative materials?

I love that I don’t have to choose between different materials because Admira Fusion Flow can be used with all other conventional composites and bonding resins. I have a significant number of patients who are looking for more biocompatible materials, and this product allows me to provide them with a material in which they can feel confident. Admira Fusion Flow doesn’t contain any of the small amounts of bi-products (uncured monomers) that are potentially left behind after the polymerization process of other materials.

DPS: Can you describe how Admira Fusion Flow makes a difference in your clinical practice?

When we do Class V restorations, we try our hardest to isolate and place matrices that allow us to fill a form that will bring the tooth back to not only form, but also function. Admira Fusion Flow allows me to precisely place the materials where I want them and to create emergence profiles that are virtually undetectable with an explorer when using these matrix systems. The finish that we attain against a Mylar strip is as smooth as can be attained in dental polishing, and the areas that we do have to trim and polish will polish up rapidly and seem to hold their polish well. Also, when I’m faced with restorations with sharp internal line angles and undercuts, if I place Admira Fusion Flow as a liner, I trust that it will allow us to do a complete fill when we place the conventional composite into the final restoration.

DPS: What would you say are the top 3 reasons your colleagues should consider using Admira Fusion Flow?

1. Biocompatibility.

2. Rheology—it flows when you want it and stays where you put it.

3. Compatibility with any bonding system. I’ve been using my bonding system for 20 years and I have no interest in changing. Having a material that works with that system is important to me.

DPS: Would you describe Admira Fusion Flow as a product you must have in your practice?

Admira Fusion Flow is great for doing small repairs of restorations with defects, but where it’s really become a must-have product for me is in filling of small occlusal restorations— preventive resin restorations. After we air abrade the occlusal pits and grooves and then etch and bond with conventional bond resins, we apply Admira Fusion Flow. It flows really well under slight pressure and easily reaches all of the deeper prepared surfaces. I’m confident that I’ve filled these preventive resin restorations all the way to ensure long-term success.
