A light-cured, high-strength composite that fills the void without compromising on strength, shrinkage, or depth of cure

Imagine using a bulk fill composite that not only fills the void, but can be sculpted and shaped—all in one filling material. As a light-cured, highstrength composite, Reveal HD Bulk allows clinicians to perform simpler and faster restorations with reduced chair time. BISCO’s proprietary HD Filler Technology provides a smooth application process without compromising on other features, such as strength, shrinkage, or depth or cure.

It’s All in the Layer
Dr. Shannon Roberts has used Reveal HD Bulk from simple cusp tip erosion cases to complex, cuspal coverage restorations. While most traditional proximal composite resin restorations require a minimum of 2 increments— and more commonly, 3 or 4 increments—Dr. Roberts found that when using Reveal HD Bulk, she only needed one.

“The best part is you only need one layer and one round of the curing light. Shade is initially more translucent. Then, after curing, the shade develops opacity—revealing a highly esthetic, shade-matched composite restoration.”

Los Angeles-based dentist and lecturer Dr. Johan Figueira agrees: “Working with Reveal HD Bulk, you avoid the timeand technique-intensive nature of multiple-layer restorations, and the challenges faced with ensuring that all composite layers combine properly and adapt well to each other and to cavity walls—without producing porosities and voids.”

Dr. Figueira also said Reveal HD Bulk helps avoid issues surrounding material adaptation, difficulty achieving tight contacts, polymerization, postoperative sensitivity, and microleakage—all of which can lead to secondary caries. Dr. Roberts pointed out that, in addition to gaining back time, applying fewer composite layers means there’s less opportunity for bonding surfaces to become contaminated between placements, causing restorations to potentially fail.

An Everyday Solution
While the durability of any newer product may take time to assess, the future looks bright. Dr. Roberts noted that many—if not most—bulk fill composites are fluid, making handling difficult and long-term wear resistance a challenge.

“This bulk fill is markedly different, allowing clinicians the ability to contour the restoration prior to curing,” she said. “I anticipate Reveal HD Bulk will outperform other bulk fill composite resins.”

Dr. Figueira uses Reveal HD Bulk for not only direct posterior restorations, but also as a core material. To achieve greater esthetics, he noted that clinicians can cap the tooth with a hybrid composite. “For me, Reveal is the everyday solution for posterior direct composite restorations.”
