Effective Irrigation with Minimal Aerosols
Vista Apex’s endodontic tools for irrigation and precise delivery of air/water. CanalClean effectively cleanses canals, while Stropko Irrigator minimizes splatter and airborne contaminants.
As new COVID-19 cases continue to emerge each day across the country, “normal” has taken on a new meaning. Now, it has become routine for practices to explore advanced, more innovative ways to avoid cross-contamination, protect patients and staff from infectious materials, and ensure the air and contact surfaces in their operatories remain clean.
Vista Apex strives to keep dental teams and patients safe with its collection of infection control products that can quell COVID-19 concerns. For air/water, the manufacturer offers the Stropko Irrigator, which assures a gentle stream. CanalClean is a single-use, two-step procedure kit for complete endodontic irrigation.
Precise Air and Water Control
Indicated for any dental procedure that requires irrigation or drying, the Stropko Irrigator is especially necessary during microscope use when precision and control is essential. Providing an accurate, fine stream of water and regulated, gentle air pressure, the device enables air-thinning of deep resin while eliminating splashing and enhancing micro adhesion.
“The Stropko Irrigator eliminates uncontrolled splashing associated with traditional air/water syringe tips,” explained Dr. John Stropko, the creator of this innovative irrigation tool. He added that the Stropko Irrigator easily transforms a standard air/water syringe into a different instrument, which in turn delivers a controlled and precise stream of air and/or water to the desired site. “Stropko Irrigator’s unique capability to deliver air and water through small delivery tips helps eliminate the concern of splatter and airborne contaminants normally produced by standard air and water syringes. This is a COVID-19 essential and especially helpful under magnification.”
A Two-in-One Solution
Aiming to provide exactly what endodontists need when cleansing root canals, Vista Apex developed the CanalClean Irrigation Kit, which includes Chlor-XTRA—an enhanced 6% sodium hypochlorite solution—and SmearOFF—a proprietary EDTA/CHX mix formulated with wetting agents and surface modifiers. These 2 products are compatible with one another and will not form a precipitate when mixed, supporting a simple and predictable irrigation process. The kit also includes 30ga, probe-style irrigating tips and a microsuction tool for drying the canals. “Not only are you saving time with the elimination of the need for EDTA, CHX, and rinsing agents, but the cost is no more than that of individual components,” said Dr. Michael A. Miyasaki.
A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TOOL Here are just some of the indications Stropko Irrigator can be used for:
Endodontics
• Rinse and dry precisely; clear away dentinal dust; control vision of site
Restorative
• Direct a precise and controlled flow of air or water into any area; use gentle air flow to “thin“ resin for total light cure
Periodontics
• Use omnidirectional stream of water for effective irrigation of surgical sites; gently “fluff” sulcular tissue to easily check for subgingival calculus
Implants
• Remove particles and clean socket after extraction; flush debris out of the internal screw channel before abutment seating
Surgery
• Gently flush any area for visibility and avoid splashing or inadvertent contamination
Orthodontics
• Precisely clean and dry bracket bonding sites; remove debris from brackets
