One of the latest members of the ACCLEAN by Henry Schein product family is a high-volume evacuator that one hygienist says has helped her “tremendously”
A recent addition to Henry Schein Products' preventive portfolio is the ACCLEAN Hands-Free High Volume Evacuation (HVE) device, designed to boost patient comfort as well as clinician efficiency. An effortless suction solution, the device is designed for evacuation, isolation, retraction, and maintaining a dry field.
It’s a “keeper” for Heather Locker, RDH, in Flint, MI. During her 23-year career, she has used a wide variety of hands-free evacuators, none of which have worked as she hoped—until now.
The Beauty of Hands-Free HVE
“The ACCLEAN Hands-Free HVE is probably the best hands-free device that I have used so far,” she shared. “It is very easy to place in the patient’s mouth, and my patients have told me it's very comfortable."
BPA-free and not made with natural rubber latex, the ACCLEAN Hands-Free HVE sets up quickly, easily integrates with existing HVE systems, and features a quick connect/disconnect adapter, which makes a seamless connection to existing dental unit hardware and enables the hose to stay upright.
Besides scaling and root planing, Locker uses the evacuator with an ultrasonic scaler, and she reaches for it when treating patients of all ages.
Small and Comfortable
Available in 2 sizes—standard and mini, which is 25% smaller—the device has a patented design that allows for 280º suction. Its U-shaped connector attaches to a leaf-shaped mouthpiece that is made of a soft, custom-blend polymer for increased patient comfort.
Case in Point
“It helps out tremendously,” said Locker, who shared a recent case where a patient who had difficulty staying open during scaling and root planing had an improved treatment experience with the ACCLEAN Hands-Free HVE.
"What a world of difference it made!" she said. "My patient said it was more comfortable, and we did not have to keep repositioning the suction. The device stayed in place and suctioned better than other devices I have used in the past."
Good evacuation is essential, Locker said. "It improves visibility and access to the treatment area, resulting in a more thorough cleaning."
