New zirconia oxide block features natural shade and translucency progression
May 2019
Ivoclar Vivadent announces the availability of the new IPS e.max ZirCAD MT Multi block. Featuring a gradual progression of shade and translucency from dentin to incisal, the zirconium oxide blocks are designed for producing highly esthetic full-contour crowns and three-unit bridges using CEREC and inLab systems.
Inherently Esthetic Characteristics
IPS e.max ZirCAD MT Multi blocks are composed of a combination of two different materials: medium translucency (MT) 4Y-TZP zirconium oxide and highly translucent (HT) 5Y-TZP zirconium oxide. Additionally, the blocks consist of three zones: 60% dentin, 20% transition, and 20% incisal. As a result, restorations milled from IPS e.max ZirCAD MT Multi blocks exhibit the high levels of brightness in the dentin area and translucency in the incisal area that are characteristic of natural dentition. IPS e.max ZirCAD MT Multi blocks are available in sizes C17 and B45, in seven A-D shades and 1 Bleach shade.
Durable Physical Properties
IPS e.max ZirCAD MT Multi blocks enable CEREC and inLab users to efficiently produce conservative and durable restorations of minimal thickness using either wet or dry milling. IPS e.max ZirCAD MT Multi restorations demonstrate high biaxial flexural strength (e.g., 850 MPa) and excellent Vicker’s fracture toughness (e.g., 3.6 MPa · m1/2).
After processing, IPS e.max ZirCAD MT Multi restorations are sintered using the Programat® CS4 or CEREC SpeedFire, then polished using OptraFine® and/or glazed using IPS e.max Crystall/Glaze Paste Fluo with fluorescent effect. The restorations can also be characterized using Dentin or Intensive shades and stains from the IPS e.max CAD Crystall range, then seated either conventionally, adhesively, or self-adhesively (e.g., SpeedCEM® Plus).
