A Time-Saving & Esthetic Material
LuxaCrown features natural fluorescence and high shade stability. In fact, most clinicians who took part in the DPS product review of LuxaCrown said the material’s esthetics—including its color stability, fluorescence, gloss retention, and polishability—were excellent. It is available in 5 shades: A1, A2, A3, A3.5, and B1.
Easy to dispense with an automatic mixing tip, LuxaCrown has a working time of 2 minutes, 20 seconds and a setting time of 5 minutes. "The working time for LuxaCrown is very reasonable," said Dr. Chanin. "The technique cuts chair time significantly over many other provisional crown techniques. In addition, splinting materials can be incorporated into LuxaCrown to give it more strength and longevity."
In Dr. Chanin's experience, LuxaCrown offers long-lasting restorations similar to lab-fabricated temporary crowns and bridges, with the added benefit of a chairside procedure. "The biggest benefit of one appointment provisionals is time savings," he said. "As dentists, the most expensive service we offer is our time. Any quality product that saves time and creates a better result is a plus."
