GrindRelief PRO takes the stress out of forming mouth guards, for you and your patients. Using only hot water, Grind Guard Technologies, LLC offers a fast, simple solution to bruxism symptoms, with a mouth guard that is comfortable to wear and easy to adjust after multiple restorations

It’s a common condition, and chances are almost all of us will either grind our teeth or clench our jaw as a direct response to stress. In fact, statistics tell a grim story: 95% of us will exhibit symptoms of bruxism at some point over the course of our lives.

Some patients try inexpensive sports mouthguards readily available in stores, while others work with their dentists for a more custom-fitted device, using impressions and stone models. Either way, however, the result is usually a cumbersome, horseshoe appliance that many find more uncomfortable than beneficial.

Common Problem, Simple Solution

Seeing this scenario unfold over the years, and watching his patients exhibit painful symptoms with little relief available, Dr. Joe Pelerin, a general dentist in Auburn Hills, MI, who suffered from bruxism himself, took matters into his own hands and designed and patented the GrindRelief PRO.

Increased Patient Comfort

The appliance is based on the same principle as the nociceptive trigeminal inhibitory (NTI) splint, which prevents bruxism symptoms by preventing the occlusion of the most posterior teeth. GrindRelief PRO can be fitted to upper or lower anterior teeth and extends only to the first premolars, making it more comfortable than traditional horseshoe splints. “With GrindRelief PRO, I’ve seen patients’ muscles become much more relaxed and less tender,” said Sage White, DDS, in Cedar City, UT. “Most of my patients see relief in 1 to 2 days, and even better results after 7 days. In fact, many of my TMJ patients have noticed particularly fast relief with this appliance.”

“I’ve found this product to be much better than other, similar mouth guards I’ve used because it’s so  easy to work with.”

No Impressions Needed

There is no need for impressions, stone models, laboratory fees, or multiple fitting appointments. GrindRelief PRO can be fitted by a dentist, chairside assistant, or hygienist and takes about only 10 minutes to complete. The quick fitting time results in less chair time for patients, and a more efficient office workflow. All that’s needed is a cup of hot water.

“It’s very easy to work with and is really comfortable for the patient,” commented Dr. White. “It’s also fast—it takes me only about 6 minutes to fabricate.”
An added advantage is that the GrindRelief PRO can be softened and re-fitted as often as needed, which is particularly useful for children whose dentition changes or adult patients who may undergo multiple restorative or prosthetic procedures.

Simply Reheat and Remold

“I’ve found this product to be much better than other, similar mouth guards I’ve used because it’s so easy to work with,” Dr. White said. “After a restoration, the original appliance might no longer fit properly, so I just reheat and remold it—and this can be done over and over again.”
The appliance reduces harmful muscle activity by 60% or more and features a unique Central Power Bar to prevent bite-through. Studies show that patients tend to grind their teeth when their bite is off, while they may clench when stressed.
“The GrindRelief PRO can help with both of those conditions if made properly, especially if the opposing occlusal tray is made also,” Dr. White pointed out. Overall, Dr. White has found great results using GrindRelief PRO. “It provides quick relief, it’s easy to wear and it’s a comfortable fit,” he concluded.
