Making Connections for Better Dentistry
Dentsply Sirona World pushes the frontiers of digital dentistry by combining market-leading clinical education, networking, and extraordinary entertainment
For many, Dentsply Sirona World is a point of connection. As the “Ultimate Experience in Digital Dentistry,” the annual event connects dentists and their teams to an entire community that shares an equal passion for furthering their practice. Together, they network, exchange ideas, take advantage of industry-leading education, and enjoy world-class entertainment. This year, connectivity took on even deeper meaning, thanks to the unveiling of fully integrated solutions that work together for streamlined workflows and better patient care.
More than 4,500 dental professionals and team members attended the recent Dentsply Sirona World in Las Vegas. By day, they learned from some of the world’s most esteemed dental experts in clinical education sessions covering topics such as digital workflows, expanded clinical procedures, practice management, and team optimization. At night, they rocked out to Journey, one of the best-selling bands of all time, and enjoyed stand-up comedy from Saturday Night Live legend David Spade.
“Dentsply Sirona World is special because it is a gathering of like-minded individuals and early adopters who have a true love of dental technology,” said Penelope Chang, DDS, who practices in Tenafly, NJ. “I love to go to meet up with colleagues as well as the reps from the different companies who I have met over the years. It is really nice going to this huge event and seeing all the familiar faces. It’s like reuniting with a family!”
Integrating the Workflow
This year, attendees experienced Dentsply Sirona’s latest innovations in areas that include intraoral scanning, 3D printing, cloud-based software, imaging, clear aligners, implants, endodontics, and more. At the center of the new technology is DS Core, a cloud-based software platform that seamlessly connects Dentsply Sirona equipment and is accessible across multiple devices. Developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, DS Core integrates the whole workflow of digital dentistry— across equipment, services, and technologies, while creating easier ways for dentists to work collaboratively with labs, partners, and specialists.
“Clearly, we have a track record of strong products, but our ambition this time was to create something that would connect them,” said Cord Staehler, Chief Technology Officer at Dentsply Sirona. “DS Core really brings our products together in one new software universe, which has a shared central intelligence in the cloud.”
To help dentists get the most out of digital dentistry, DS Core Create, a new service within DS Core, provides access to high-quality expert designs that are tailored to each patient’s needs across a broad range of indications with just a few clicks. Clinical indications include night guards and splints, temporary restorations, CEREC guides, custom impression trays, and models. The service integrates smoothly with Dentsply Sirona’s new Primeprint 3D printing solution.
End-to-End 3D Printing
Primeprint Solution is a highly automated 3D printing system for dentists and technicians who want to expand their treatment or service offerings. The smart hardware and software solution is designed for dental applications and can run the entire printing process, including post-processing. The high level of automation helps reduce handling times, allows for delegation, and enables a high level of productivity.
“Primeprint is a great step for dentistry,” said Dr. Rainer Seemann, Vice President, Global Clinical Research at Dentsply Sirona. “The market research we completed before developing that solution clearly showed that dental professionals wanted to have 3D printing in their offices, but they didn’t want to have this messy procedure with a lot of manual work. Instead, we’ve created a system that is easy to use and that can be delegated to the staff.”
Embracing Digital Dentistry
Dentsply Sirona World offered a sneak preview of Primescan Connect, a laptop configuration of the successful intraoral scanner, Primescan. The new solution delivers all the benefits of the cart-based Primescan for a lower investment, making it an easy starting point in digital dentistry.
“We believe we can impact and elevate the dentist’s everyday life by helping them with their treatments and procedures through connected solutions,” said Erania Brackett, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Dentsply Sirona. “And with the unveiling of technologies like DS Core and these connected systems and technologies, we think we can really help dentists improve the overall patient experience, and enable them to practice efficient, safe, and innovative dentistry.”
Other solutions highlighted at Dentsply Sirona World included SureSmile Clear Aligners and the SureSmile VPro vibration device, DS PrimeTaper implant system, Axeos 2D/3D imaging solution, CEREC Tessera and CEREC MTL Zirconia CAD/ CAM blocks, ProTaper Ultimate endodontic files, Surefil one self-adhesive composite hybrid, SmartLite Pro EndoActivator endodontic activation system, and AH Plus Bioceramic Sealer root canal sealer.
Beyond the many solutions celebrated, the event showcased a unique sense of community.
