Meron Plus QM: Strong, Simple, and Reliable
A resin-modified glass ionomer permanent cement that offers twice the bond strength found in similar cements, Meron Plus QM features a convenient QuickMix delivery system and an optional tack cure
When it comes to dental cements, they all may stick, but the similarities likely end there. Formulations differ widely, and so does efficacy. Material compatibility adds another layer of potential confusion to the mix.
“While there is no one perfect cement for all restorations, dentists have a lot of great choices,” said Gary Radz, DDS, Denver, CO. “Factors such as the height and angulation of the crown preparation, the type of restorative material being used, and the patient’s specific oral conditions all play a role when clinicians choose a permanent cement.”
Two Times the Strength
Meron Plus QM is a paste/paste resin-modified glass ionomer cement that offers exceptionally strong adhesion and is indicated for metal-based inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges; metal, ceramic, and fiber posts; and all high-strength, all-ceramic restorations, including zirconium dioxide. Featuring up to twice the adhesive values to zirconium dioxide when compared with similar cements, Meron Plus QM also provides a shear bond strength to dentin of 11.3 MPa—a feature that provides additional safety to patients in cases with low retention, such as short, tapered crowns.
“Meron Plus QM is an excellent choice for many zirconia restorations, especially if the patient can benefit from a cement that offers a continuous high-fluoride release,” Dr. Radz shared. “In addition, although they are used less frequently, many metal/ PFM crowns and bridges are also good candidates for this cement. Overall, the ideal candidate for Meron Plus QM is a patient with a zirconia, PFM, or gold crown or bridge, with a preparation that has adequate retention and resistance form, and with a moderate or high caries risk.”
“Meron Plus QM offers easy and predictable mixing and cleanup, consistent and reliable results, and an excellent value.”

Optional Tack Cure
Meron Plus QM is unique in that it features a quick and easy cleanup of excess material, along with an optional tack cure. In addition to having a low film thickness for a precise marginal fit, Meron Plus QM is also acid- and moisture-resistant, as well as self-adhesive, providing secure cementation without needing an additional adhesive, primer, or conditioner.
“I’ve had many successful cases using Meron Plus QM. Honestly, I can’t think of a single case that I can point to and say that Meron Plus QM was the problem!” Dr. Radz said.
Precise Delivery System
Meron Plus QM features a precise and easy QuickMix delivery system that allows for application directly into the restoration. As a result, the chance of mixing errors is eliminated, and clinicians are assured of a reliable mixing ratio without the need for an additional applicator. Beyond being self-cured, Meron Plus QM also offers a convenient extraoral working time of 2 minutes with a setting time of 4 minutes 30 seconds, allowing sufficient time for both single-tooth restorations and multi-unit bridges.
“Meron Plus QM offers easy and predictable mixing and cleanup, consistent and reliable results, and an excellent value,” said Dr. Radz, who has relied on many VOCO materials over the years. “This is well-tested and highly rated by independent testers, with a clinically excellent performance.”
