One Irrigation Solution

By delivering all the results of a traditional 3-step irrigation process in one solution, Triton streamlines root canal therapy for dental teams and patients

We all know that no patient actually wants to have a root canal procedure. So, even though they may know little about the clinical steps required for successful endo therapy, they appreciate anything that makes their time in the chair quicker, easier, and more efficient.

Triton, the all-in-1 irrigation solution from Brasseler, is designed just for that. With its proprietary blend of surfactants, gentle chelating agents, and a lower concentration of NaOCl than traditional irrigants, it is the first solution to deliver all the benefits of NaOCl, chlorhexidine, and EDTA in a single product—without using chlorhexidine or EDTA. And by simultaneously dissolving organic and inorganic tissue in a single step, it eliminates the need to use multiple syringes and rinses.

Simple from Start to Finish

Simplicity is the name of the game with Triton. In fact, it was the first quality Brandon Schiffner, DDS, noticed about the product. “It was simple to store and easy for my assistants to get the syringes ready.”

Dr. Schiffner also noted that it allows more accessory canals to be seen after obturation, indicating a more thorough cleaning of the root canal anatomy. Triton’s novel formulation is composed of 2 solutions that are maintained in 2 separate compartments of a single bottle until needed. An automix cap precisely blends them to deliver the final solution when drawn into the syringe. The remaining unused Triton can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 months, while the mixed solution is stable for an hour. The manufacturer notes that because only one product is needed to remove both organic and inorganic debris, many dentists find themselves needing much smaller volumes of solution to complete root canal treatment.

Safety & Comfort

Dr. Schiffner observed that incorporating Triton into his root canal process has decreased patient chair time, thereby improving the patient experience—and his own. “It’s nice to do root canals faster for patients,” he said.

By avoiding the use of NaOCl and chlorhexidine, Triton affords dentists peace of mind by eliminating the potential for dangerous chemical reactions. And the absence of EDTA sidesteps the problem of buffering NaOCl, allowing for the use of a lower, less cytotoxic NaOCl concentration and reassurance if accidental extrusion past the apex occurs.

Proof of Success

When asked if he would recommend Triton to his colleagues, Dr. Schiffner said his opinion is based on the literature he has read as well as his clinical experience. "As a practicing clinician, it's important that the science/ evidence is just as strong as the clinical application," he said. At the same time, he acknowledges that using Triton is both satisfying and practical. “I’d recommend this product to colleagues because it enhances the thrill of the fi ll,” he said. “My postop periapical x-rays show more deltas and tributaries than I’m used to seeing. For me, the proof is in the x-ray.”
