THE PATIENTS’ CHOICE  FOR CLARITY & COMFORT

Dr. Dave Paquette explains how patients react when switching to Reveal, an aligner with superior clarity and silky smooth edges

As a doctor who started his career in general dentistry and later turned to orthodontics in private practice and as an international lecturer, Dr. Dave Paquette knows a few things about tooth movement and patient satisfaction. When it comes to clear aligner therapy, he can attest that Reveal from HenrySchein Orthodontics accomplishes both challenges with relative ease.

That’s because Reveal offers a straightforward path for the general dentist or orthodontist to introduce clear aligners in the practice—thanks to a seamless process for treatment planning and a reduced reliance on attachments.

“One of the nice things is that, because the Reveal Aligners are trimmed closer to the gingiva, they encapsulate the undercuts of the teeth. And, so, we are fortunate that we don’t have to use as many attachments—or no attachments at all in many cases that are simple and straightforward,” said Dr. Paquette.

The Smoother, Clearer Alternative

Patients appreciate that the aligners are both clear and comfortable. According to Dr. Paquette, that’s the message from his patients who were wearing one aligner system, and switched to

Reveal. With Reveal, dentists and orthodontists can upload scans from virtually any digital intraoral scanner or use conventional impressions—something not every aligner service can offer if they require use of a specific digital impression system.

Dr. Paquette, whose 3Shape TRIOS scanners fully integrate with Reveal for a streamlined case submission workflow, has been pleased to see the satisfaction of patients after making the switch. “I’ve had patients switch from other aligner systems to the Reveal Aligners, and their comments—almost without exception—is that they’re smoother and they’re clearer than the aligners they were wearing before. And because they’re smoother, they’re more comfortable,” he said.

Reveal Clear Aligners are manufactured using proprietary ClearWear material to provide optimal esthetics and a precision fit with tooth-specific control. The silky, smooth trays are trimmed at the gingival margin for maximum patient comfort.

“Because of the way they’re made, there aren't all the little striations from those 3D model print marks. And it’s surprising to me that patients can actually sense the difference when they’ve switched from one to another, but apparently they can,” Dr. Paquette said.

Benefitting Patient & Practice

Dr. Paquette believes clear aligner treatment—even when making minor anterior adjustments leading up to more complex smile treatment, can create a stunning result for the patient and open up a worthwhile revenue stream for the practice. Offering such a service can aid in practice marketing, particularly due to Reveal’s qualities of being clear and comfortable.

“Certainly, I think marketing the benefits of an alternative aligner treatment [to the leading brand] would interest some patients who want to make sure it’s absolutely clear to the point where nobody even knows that they’re wearing it. So, I think that’s an important aspect of it,” Dr. Paquette said.
When asked to name his favorite features of Reveal, Dr. Paquette responded:

  1. 1.   Clarity. “They’re perfectly clear, and they’re very resistant to stain and discoloration, which is very nice.”

2.   Fewer attachments. “There are obviously less attachments—I’ve had transfer patients who’ve used other aligner treatments and they’ve come in wearing attachments on every tooth. In that case, you might as well wear braces.”
3.   Comfort. “They’re just more comfortable. The edges are very, very smooth, and they don’t tend to irritate people’s lips and tongue the way some of the others that I’ve tried have.”
