When choosing among the restorative materials available for CAD/CAM use, a clinician will find a wide variety of materials with characteristics similar to those of natural tooth structure. Such materials are proven to benefit current resin-based restorations in regard to marginal integrity and longevity. But in addition to those qualities, I am always on the lookout for products that can speed up my procedures while giving me the esthetic results to help enhance my outcomes.

There are a number of features I look for when searching for CAD/CAM blocks. In particular, I seek out blocks that meet the esthetic demands of myself and my patients, and I also look for materials that are strong enough to withstand the test of time.

Patient and Clinician Benefits

VOCO’s Grandio blocs, which are nano-ceramic hybrid blocks for crowns, inlays, onlays, veneers, and implant-supported crowns, provide a great alternative to traditional blocks because they have natural esthetics, excellent strength, and tooth-like thermal expansion. They also allow us to shorten one-visit appointments because there is no need to fire the material in the oven.

Grandio blocs were extremely helpful in a recent case I had where a patient presented with a fractured cusp and wanted same-day treatment. Because we didn’t need to fire the block, we were able to save time, and we produced a beautiful esthetic restoration that resulted in a happy patient and increased production for the office.

Ideal Choice For CAD/CAM

With excellent physical values for flexural strength and abrasion, Grandio blocs offer us an ideal solution for clinicians to streamline their CAD/CAM processes and deliver high-quality restorations. This block gives us the strength and compatibility needed for CAD/CAM dentistry along with ease of use so the block mills quickly. The blocks are 86% filled, allowing for enhanced strength and wear resistance. This restorative material is not brittle and allows for thinner margins without chipping, making it easier to be conservative in preparing tooth structure.

Ends for the Means

Grandio blocs offer incredible tooth-like properties, benefitting the patient while delivering key advantages for the practitioner. Grandio blocs have lived up to expectations and more, as the end results have been great for our practice.
