Find out why Clark Brown Jr., DDS, PA, believes that Schick 33 from Dentsply Sirona:

• Produces images with incredible detail, making it easier to diagnose early on
• Comes with support that is unparalleled in the industry

from_the_podium-teeth.jpgAs someone who has embraced the use of digital technologies in the practice, I know the importance of using accurate, high-resolution imaging and the difference it makes with diagnosis. The Schick 33 intraoral sensor and the image enhancement capabilities of Sidexis 4 software have allowed us to see what we simply couldn’t before.

For example, periapical infections are easy to diagnose when they’ve progressed, but they remain elusive in the early stages. With film radiographs, almost 40% of the bone needs to have been destroyed before periapical radiolucencies are seen. Or when we have multirooted teeth with multiple canals, a dying nerve is often difficult to diagnose early on. One nerve may be necrotic, while the others are viable. This will confuse pulp testing. The greater the resolution of the radiographs and the ability to manipulate the image in the software, the easier it is to detect these issues earlier.

That’s where Schick 33 and Sidexis 4 come in. The images taken with Schick 33 have incredible detail. Having used Schick sensors since the 1990s, I’ve noticed a steady increase in the image quality through the years. This is not a company that stands by and rests upon its existing technology. Dentsply Sirona is constantly improving products to stay on the cutting edge and remain the leader in quality technology.

Clear Diagnosis
The Sidexis 4 image-processing software is intuitive, making it easy to manipulate images to gain greater diagnostic capabilities. The software allows us to display and process 2D, 3D, and intraoral images simultaneously, which helps both with planning and diagnosis. We are able to process the images for improved evaluation and patient communication.

With the ability to detect lesions early and show patients a detailed image, we achieve greater case acceptance. Additionally, the software has been updated with new tools, including the ability to open images on multiple workstations at the same time— allowing the doctor to conduct an examination while the office manager or treatment coordinator is using the information to aid in insurance estimates.

Service and Support
The support we get with Schick 33 is unparalleled in the industry. Sensors can sometimes fail, just like any electronic product. With the Schick support plan, any sensor that dies or does not live up to its original quality is immediately replaced. Dentsply Sirona makes sensor downtime almost nonexistent.

At the end of the day, Schick 33 sensors provide dental professionals a greater ability to see things that otherwise would be masked. And the earlier we can detect these problems, the easier they are to fi x. Ultimately, this is much better for the patient.
