“Having something that is bioactive—something that lays down well and will create new hydroxyapatite or new tooth structure—is very beneficial,” said Sheldon Seidman, DDS, who practices in Chicago, IL. “Plus, I feel that it is a very effective material.” Upon placement, Dr. Seidman noted he “had zero bubbles, which is also a plus.” Highly polishable, versatile, and dual-cure, Predicta Bioactive Bulk can be used in all areas of the mouth to fill any size cavity preparation, all the way up to the occlusal surface. There’s no chance of incomplete curing, which often is the cause of postop sensitivity and restoration failure. Predicta requires no additional layering and there’s no limit to its applications.
Dr. Seidman has primarily used Predicta for Class II restorations, although as he has become more familiar with the material he has expanded his use to now include Class V’s. “I like it because it fills in well and sets well,” he said. “I am happy with how I’m able to trim and polish it, and the color is good. I 
have found that it flows to the walls of the preparation better than some of the other bulk-fills I have previously used,” he continued.
Having used Predicta Bioactive Bulk in multiple cases, Dr. Seidman is particularly pleased with its dual-cure capability. “That’s a major advantage, because you may not be getting the little corners with your light, and the fact that it continues to cure below means you are reducing the chance of postop sensitivity that comes with uncured resin down at the floor of the prep,” he explained. “I believe you’re going to get a longer-lasting restoration because of that.”
Predicta Bioactive Bulk, which is highly radiopaque and displays fluorescence, is available in multiple viscosities and shades. “Once it was polished and cured, I thought the shade was very good,” Dr. Seidman noted. “It’s really the trifecta—you have a bulk-fill that’s dual-cure with bioactivity, which means you’ve got every thing you need.”
