Gingi-Pak Z-Twist Weave Braided Cord
Los Angeles-based clinician Dr. Edward Lew has experienced plenty of situations where bleeding gums and less-than-ideal pockets left cord packing a questionable option. However, he found a solution with using Pac-Dent International’s Gingi-Pak Z-Twist Weave Braided Cord.

“It’s easy to pack, helps to stop or reduce bleeding, and does not shred while packing,” said Dr. Lew, adding that the company has a great reputation when it comes to restorative products.

Available in 5 diameters—from sizes #000 to #3—Gingi-Pak Z-Twist features a proprietary braided cord designed to resist penetration and encourage consistency and reliability during procedures. The retraction cord is braided into long, nonsplit, and collapse-resistant chains that can be used with any type of packing instrument.

Case in Point
Recently, Dr. Lew had an impression on a tooth No. 18 that had inflamed gingiva and pockets that were not ideal for cord packing. He decided to use Gingi-Pak Z-Twist in size #00, but remained skeptical that he could achieve some form of hemostasis.

“I didn’t know if I could get the cord in since the buccal area had recession present and very thin gingiva tissue,” he shared. “I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to pack the cord without any issues and help control the bleeding for an acceptable impression.”

Features That Simplify
Gingi-Pak Z-Twist is available as plain cord or hand-impregnated with either DL-Epinephrine HCL or aluminum sulfate, which deliver a consistent 0.5 mg of solution per linear inch of cord throughout its entire length. To avoid confusion in the operatory, the cords and packaging are color coded to ensure the correct ingredient is applied.

A patented KutterKap lid eliminates the need for scissors by featuring a built-in blade. In one quick motion, clinicians can pull the cord to their desired length and simply snap the cap shut to cut.

“It’s a great product that combines all of the features that make cord packing simple and effi cient,” concluded Dr. Lew.
