Along with superior radiopacity, high strength, and dentin-like elasticity, Super Fiber Posts deliver photocuring light to the apex for complete polymerization
Saving a compromised tooth doesn’t end with a root canal. The restorative phase—particularly post selection—can spell the difference between a restoration that's successful and one that's not. Luckily, DPS evaluators agree that iLumi Sciences’ Super Fiber Post delivers 3 distinct advantages that support simplified workflows and lasting success.
1. Light Transmission to Apex
Offering a convenient, time-saving, 1-step post and core buildup, Super Fiber Posts use patented fiber-optic technology to distribute omnidirectional photocuring light throughout the entire post to the apex, incorporating total internal reflection in the core of each post.
“It’s the best fiber post for transmitting light all the way down through the post,” said Howard Glazer, DDS, FAGD. “A lot of manufacturers claim that their products can do that, but I found this one to have the best transillumination.”
This unique design offers clinicians visual evidence of complete and consistent polymerization deep into the canal. And because complete polymerization of core material and cement is critical for post retention, this extra dose of certainty—especially in difficult-to-access preps with low visibility—goes a long way.
2. More Than 5x the Radiopacity
Looking for detailed radiographs? Super Fiber Posts have been tailored to yield more than 5 times aluminum radiopacity at 1 mm, which means placement details are easy to visualize on radiographs. It's a feature Dr. Glazer finds particularly helpful.
“It’s one of the most radiopaque fiber posts I’ve ever seen,” he shared. “This is great because I can see it on the radiograph to follow it. I’ve used some fiber posts where, unless I manually adjust my contrast on the radiograph, I can’t even see the post is in there.”
3. Fracture Strength & Elasticity
Thanks to a uniform composite structure, Super Fiber Posts provide superior mechanical strength, while a dentin-like elasticity reduces stress on the root, minimizing the risk of fracture and offering the ability to flex and adapt within irregular root structures. For enhanced time savings and improved bonding strength, the posts are also pre-primed and pre-etched.
“Typically, when we cement in a metal post, the cement inherently expands,” Dr. Glazer said. “So, if you have rather thin walls of the canal, you run the risk of fracturing. The fiber posts, however, are bonded in. These posts are easy to get into narrow canals, and I like that.”
Patented and made in the United States, Super Fiber Posts offer color-coded stoppers for ease of use and are packaged in hygienic blister packs for sterility.
