This Award-Winning Duo Makes a Great Impression

Both DPS Best Product award winners, Kettenbach's Panasil and Silginat each provide superior handling and precise, predictable impressions

Everyone knows that first impressions are critical, largely because they last well beyond those initial few minutes. The same can be said for the dental impression, as a well-fitting restoration or appliance can only be assured through a detailed and accurate impression. To achieve that, look no further than two of Kettenbach's impression materials—both equally praised by DPS evaluators for their excellent handling and ability to create precise impressions in a variety of cases.

A 40-Year Legacy of Accuracy

Awarded a DPS Best Product for its accurate, predictable impressions—and Kettenbach’s premier impression material for over 40 years—Panasil continues to lead the market, owing to its high-viscosity, addition-curing formulation. A highly hydrophilic material, Panasil provides accurate impressions in moist environments. In addition, the silicone-based material offers a unique elasticity that provides precise, crisp detail of even the deepest preparation margins.

Easy to handle, Panasil also has a pleasant taste and mixes well, with fewer voids and bubbles. Its high tensile strength ensures precise impressions with no need to reline, and it displays a remarkable resistance to permanent deformation.

“While some of my associates have switched to scanning their preps, which also produces a wonderful product, I personally find it too time-consuming—especially in a bloody field," said Jason Wetmore, DMD, Rockledge, FL. "It only takes 30 seconds for me to take a traditional impression using Panasil, and the results are always superior."

Perfect for Dentures & Sleep Appliances

Developed specifically for alginate applications such as anatomical impressions, and ideal for study models, dentures, and sleep appliances, Silginat is a medium-bodied viscosity VPS impression material and a recent addition to Kettenbach’s growing collection of DPS Best Products. An elastomeric A-silicone VPS impression material, Silginat features a low tear resistance, which prevents clinicians from inadvertently dislodging restorations or orthodontic appliances. With a short intraoral setting time of 90 seconds, Silginat is highly thixotropic and flows properly under pressure. It also has high dimensional stability, which means model impressions can be kept for several weeks and poured multiple times.

According to Paul Trombly, DMD, Brookline, MA, Silginat set quickly and handled well. “It was excellent when fabricating flexite removable partial dentures, and it also created excellent temporary crowns with great anatomical clarity,” he added.
