Peak Universal Bond
Adhesive’s versatile formulation is ideal for indirect and direct bonding, including post-and-core procedures
For Ultradent, it was a journey that lasted over 22 years and three generations of bonding agents. But the company’s continuous research into tooth structure, adhesive properties, and maximum bond strengths— along with repeated trial and error—was necessary in the quest to create the highest-strength bonding agent. Ultimately, the company arrived at Peak Universal Bond, the adhesive that would help dentists arrive at more affordable, minimally invasive dentistry.
Dr. Richard Ruden, who maintains a private practice in West Deptford, NJ, was on a journey of his own at that time. A major part of his practice involved direct composite restorations, but there was a nagging problem. Patients were repeatedly calling to report sensitivity, and for years, he’d have to make time in his schedule to resolve their issues. But after taking a seminar run by Ultradent founder Dr. Dan Fischer, he learned of Peak Universal Bond. The product—indicated for all direct and indirect bonding procedures—claimed to bring superior bond strength to dentin and enamel, while also reducing the possibility of residual patient sensitivity. Dr. Ruden would find those points to hold true in practice, and a half-decade later, he has never looked back. “Since I’ve been using it, there is very little sensitivity, if any,” he said. “On the rare occasion a patient does come back, it’s for a bite adjustment— nothing more than that.”
Proven Bond Strength
During the R&D period that led to the development of Peak Universal Bond, Ultradent’s team put extensive effort into creating its own, custom-synthesized monomer, which became a key component in the formulation. Along with a blend of others, this unique phosphate monomer exhibits a higher ability to reach every microscopic area that has been etched on the tooth. The addition of chlorhexidine in Peak Universal Bond further enhances the long-term bond strength.
“It’s easy to use, reduces the possibility of sensitivity, and works great.”

Easy Application
Dr. Ruden, who also uses the adhesive for his post-and-core procedures, can vouch for Ultradent’s claims, saying his restorations have stood the test of time. “That’s why I’ve stuck with it over the years. It’s been very good. I have had no problem with the bond strength.”
The material, whose viscosity has been optimized for minimal film thickness, applies easily, according to Dr. Ruden. Peak Universal Bond is offered in bottle or syringe delivery, and Dr. Ruden favors the syringe because he found that it reduces waste and applies easily with the convenient applicator brush.
At the end of the day, Dr. Ruden said he would recommend Peak Universal Bond to any dentist seeking a reliable adhesive that will serve both patients and practice well. “It’s easy to use, reduces the possibility of sensitivity, and works great.”
