V-Posil

VPS impression system formulated to offer up to 2 minutes of adjustable working time, combined with a short setting time

V-Posil Impression Material recommended product With impression materials, clinicians want the fastest possible set time, but they often need a longer working time. In the past, this has been difficult during longer-span cases, as clinicians were forced to wait more than 6 minutes in most instances. If a fast-set material was chosen, the risk for distortion was high as a result of setup because of the shorter working time.

VOCO’s V-Posil has solved these issues by combining the working time of a regular set with the short setting time of a fast set in one impression material. Through the use of a thermo-activated set time, V-Posil and its adjustable working time minimizes time constraints and is ideal for procedures that require a fast set, such as single units, or a regular set, such as multiple unit veneer cases.

“When an impression is in the mouth, every second counts. V-Posil is a 'one size fits all' type of impression material with a fast-set time that patients and we, the dentists, appreciate,” said noted lecturer and consultant Dr. Chad Duplantis.

Because V-Posil is thermo-activated, when the loaded tray is placed into the patient’s mouth, the material starts to set quickly as a result of the increased temperature. The period from the time the tray is inserted into the patient’s mouth until the material reaches dimensional stability is referred to as "the critical zone." During this time, any movements of the tray could cause distortions, resulting in time consuming retakes or poorly fitting restorations. V-Posil reduces this time to only 40 seconds, minimizing the number of retakes and improving patient comfort.

“I think V-Posil’s high tear strength, as well as excellent elasticity, are very important features that also differentiate the material from others on the market,” said Dr. Duplantis. “In addition, the 380-mL packaging allows the material to be dispensed through the automatic dynamic dispenser with a consistent mix throughout and ensures an easy seat of the material intraorally.”

With vinyl polysiloxanes, the smallest possible contact angle refl ects a good wetting capacity of material on a surface. V-Posil reaches its low-contact angle after 15 seconds and therefore immediately displaces fluids such as saliva or blood for a more accurate impression.

“V-Posil has a contact angle of <10° and a post-set contact angle of <6°, which is better than some of the leading polyether materials on the market," added Dr. Duplantis. "This material can really change the thought process of the general practitioner."

Dr. Duplantis' Top 3 Reasons for Using V-Posil:

1. Accuracy—The impression material is incredibly accurate and precise.

2. Efficiency—Time = money in a dental practice. The ability to use just one material for all of our cases saves both time and inventory, which increases our productivity and profit margin.

3. Cost—In addition to accuracy, VOCO products offer a considerable cost savings over competing manufacturers, while delivering high-quality performance and predictable results.
