Visalys: Simply Strong
As DPS readers weigh in on their go-to material for core buildups, we pause to honor the rapid expansion of the Visalys family into 5 uniquely strong and esthetic restorative materials
For nearly 80 years, Kettenbach Dental has been on a mission to create dental materials that offer the ideal balance of strength and simplicity. That commitment is evident in its ever-expanding families of impression and bite registration materials—Panasil, Identium, Futar, and Silginat. While Kettenbach may be most well known for its innovation in impression materials, the manufacturer’s growing list of restorative materials cannot be ignored.
When Visalys Core came to market, it signaled the first use of Kettenbach’s unique Active Connect Technology, which enables a reliable bond with both single- and multistep adhesives without the need for an additional activator. Indicated for challenging core buildups and root post cementations, Visalys Core quickly gained popularity among clinicians, especially DPS readers, who this year deemed it a 2023 Readers’ Choice winner.
But there’s more to the Visalys family than 1 product. What started over a decade ago with a single material has expanded to 5 unique restorative solutions designed for core buildups, cementation, fillings, and temporization.
A true best-of-both-worlds material, Visalys CemCore builds on the success of Visalys Core with expanded indications for both core buildups and cementation of all indirect restorations—including those that require extreme adhesive strength or high color stability.
“The dentistry we are seeing more of today tends to be a combination of implants, natural tooth structure, and pre-existing post-and-core buildups,” said Hemali Ajmera, DDS. “Visalys CemCore gives me confidence that I can manage any type of situation. It is a unique product ideal for cementing a post as well as creating a well-engineered core buildup.”
For stable and fracture-resistant provisionals with outstanding esthetics, turn to Visalys Temp, a multifunctional acrylic composite that holds temporary and partial crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and veneers for up to 4 weeks. “Visalys Temp was strong enough to hold up a 3-unit bridge, splint 3 units together very well—and looked great doing it,” noted Abraham Jaskiel, DMD, during a recent DPS product review. Dr. Eric Winterton agreed, sharing, “It requires less occlusal adjustment and we have much less frequent breakage.”
Visalys Fill & Flow
Kettenbach recently welcomed 2 new materials to the Visalys Family—Visalys Fill and Visalys Flow—light curing, radiopaque, nanohybrid composites for all filling classes. Featuring a Flex Shade System that covers the entire VITA shade scale with just 5 shades, the materials have an extremely high inorganic filler content and high flexural strength that ensure restorations maintain their shape and esthetics over time.
