A 31-year-old woman presented with enamel erosion on teeth Nos. 8 and 9 (Figure 1). She was looking for an economical, minimally invasive way to restore her teeth and smile. Rather than opting for porcelain veneers—which would require multiple appointments and come with a high price tag—I presented Premier Dental’s VeneerNow Injectable Matrix System as a solution.
VeneerNow to the Rescue
Made for a variety of clinical scenarios—closing spaces; restoring broken, fractured, or eroded teeth; and minor esthetic corrections—the VeneerNow system is comprised of full-contour matrices that replicate the natural shape of anterior teeth. You simply choose the right matrix, inject flowable composite into a stalk on the matrix, and achieve a natural-looking, predictable result. VeneerNow also can be used with packable composite.
Because there was no need for any tooth reduction, impressions, or anesthetic, we got started on the restoration right away. After enamel etching, I applied and light-cured a universal bonding agent and then placed the appropriate VeneerNow matrix (Figure 2). I added a little flowable on the incisal edge, providing a lingual shell to prevent excess flowable from leaking out of the matrix (Figure 3).
Next, using a BL shade flowable composite, I inserted the tip into the injection stalk of the VeneerNow matrix and dispensed composite until I saw the matrix was free of voids (Figure 4).
Anterior Bonding, Simplified
After light-curing the flowable composite from multiple angles, I removed the VeneerNow matrix with a small spoon excavator. Voilà! In just a few minutes, the anterior bonding was completed with line angles, contacts, and anatomy—without the need for any instruments. I used a mandrel and flexi disc to correct the incisal edge length (Figure 5).
While the matrix has side wings that help minimize interproximal cleanup, I used a fine diamond followed by a rubber cup to remove and finish any remaining composite flash (Figure 6). To finish polishing, I used a silicone polishing wheel designed for large surface areas (Figure 7). A
Beautiful Result in Half the Time
In less than 30 minutes, teeth Nos. 8 and 9 were successfully restored with composite bonding (Figures 8 and 9). Because of the VeneerNow Injectable Matrix System, the stress of composite bonding was greatly reduced.
This matrix provides the ability to quickly restore Class IV lesions, close gaps and spaces, restore peg laterals, perform smile makeovers, and so much more. It really is the perfect tool to have in the office for cases like this one. I can safely say that VeneerNow has removed the stress of freehanding composite veneers forever!
