With over 30 years of experience in cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Gary Radz understands that proper cementation is critical to veneer success. Because veneers lack inherent retention, the bond created is the only thing keeping them in place. That’s why he trusts BISCO’s Choice 2, paired with All-Bond Universal, to deliver the strength needed for long-term results. He’s found the combination is perfect for his technique, particularly when placing multiple veneers at once.

What I like about Choice 2 is that it’s a light-cure-only cement. With the cementation technique I use for veneers, light-cure products work better for me than dual-cure materials. Choice 2 also gives me more working time, and because I’m placing multiple restorations at once, that extra working time is really advantageous. It gives me a lot more confidence.

The Right Amount of Flow

The other thing that makes me gravitate toward Choice 2 is the viscosity—it's perfect for applying the veneer to the tooth during cementation, and it’s easy to clean up before I cure the cement.

The Choice 2 flow is kind of like the Goldilocks story: it’s just right. Some light-cure materials are too thick and make it difficult to feel when the veneer is fully seated. Some are too runny, so when you go to put the veneer on, it’s a big mess and difficult to clean up because it’s just flowing everywhere. Choice 2 is flowable enough, but not too flowable.

The Perfect Look and Fit

I always try veneers in first to check the fit and esthetics. Patients need to see the veneers in place before we cement anything so they can approve the esthetics. The Choice 2 system offers corresponding try-in pastes that make this easy—they let you see exactly what the veneers will look like with the cement, without actually locking them in.

The try-in pastes are designed to aid in selecting the right final shade of cement for optimal esthetics. It doesn’t happen often, but when you try in the veneer and it’s not the color you were looking for, it’s important to have options to quickly alter the shade. With Choice 2, I have a reasonable selection of colors that allow me to alter the shade chairside and still deliver the veneer that day.

You also can evaluate fi t with the try-in pastes, which is critical. Because of the prep design, the veneer doesn’t sit on the tooth like a crown, which slides itself into place. You have to ensure the exact fit of the veneer, and that means being meticulous about cleaning up the cement and making sure the veneer is fully seated before you light cure. Choice 2 try-in pastes enable you to verify the veneer achieves a passive fit before you cement it into place.

Strong Bonds That Last

With veneers, you have to create adhesion between the tooth and the material, as well as the cement and the porcelain. The combination of Choice 2 and All-Bond Universal consistently delivers excellent bond strength in both scenarios, and strength is everything when it comes to veneer longevity.
