Why I Use: dentalcad
Versatile CAD/CAM software offers flexible treatment modules that increase efficiency and create a better patient experience
I've been taking digital impressions in my practice for over a decade, and after switching from Dentsply Sirona's earlier scanners to the state-of-the-art Primescan, I'm amazed by how quickly I’m able to capture accurate scans and immediately view the 3D scan models.
Efficient Lab Communication
After I scan a patient, I can assess the quality of the scan right on the screen and easily foresee if there would be any problems with a crown or bridge—regardless of whether I’m going to send the case to the lab or make the crown in-house. I can address any issues while the patient is still in the chair, versus sending a traditional impression to the lab and finding out a few days later that there may be an issue.
With Primescan, I can send scans to any lab in the world. I choose which lab I want to work with and they receive the scan instantly. Some labs even have the capability to accept my case, review it, and let me know if there are any issues before the patient even leaves the chair. It's made communication easy and convenient.
One of my favorite uses for the Primescan is during clear aligner cases. Though you can work with other orthodontic partners, we use SureSmile, a full-service clear aligner solution from Dentsply Sirona that integrates with Primescan. Not only is the aligner fit extremely accurate, but the process is seamless. Primescan also aligns with my OPTISLEEP workflow, a complete 3D solution used to treat obstructive sleep apnea. These sleep appliances are so amazing and life changing, in part because of their comfort and highly accurate fit.
The Ultimate Productivity Booster
Primescan has helped boost our productivity and efficiency. We cut down on supplies and out-of-pocket expenses for procedures because we don't have to keep various trays and expensive mate-rials stocked for impressions.
The scanner is extremely user friendly, which is important because my team members can take scans while I’m with other patients, and I can come back when everything is ready for me to look at. It’s also patient friendly.
Nothing in dentistry tastes good, so it’s great that we don’t have to use poor-tasting and goopy impression materials anymore.
Primescan is a worthwhile investment for any dentist. New scanners are always emerging in the dental market, but reputation and history are unique factors that Primescan brings to the table. Dentsply Sirona has been manufacturing intraoral scanners for decades, so they've worked out any kinks and made it easy to just pick up the scanner and jump right in
