ZR-Cem: Made for Simple, Stress-Free Cementation of Zirconia Restorations
Easy cleanup, simple instructions, strong adhesion, reduced postop sensitivity...what more could you ask for in a zirconia cement? For one dentist, Premier’s ZR-Cem checks off every box.
Sometimes, you come upon a new product simply by happenstance. That’s what happened to Mitchell Pasenkoff, DMD. He was about to run out of his usual resin cement when Premier sent him a sample of ZR-Cem. “I was running out, so I tried it,” Dr. Pasenkoff explained. “It was great, especially the cleanup and easy-to-follow instructions.”
Formulated for Success
Dual-cure, self-adhesive ZR-Cem is specially formulated for zirconia restorations. Its innovative MDP formula enhances adhesion, improves color stability, and reduces postop sensitivity. When compared to another self-adhesive cement, ZR-Cem performed better in terms of bond strength and color stability.
Dr. Pasenkoff has been using ZR-Cem for about 6 months and he’s found “good adhesion to zirconium.” He’s also had good results with color stability. “I use a basic universal shade for anterior and posterior restorations. When accompanied by ZR-Cem, the color seems to be very stable.”

Designed for Ease of Use
Premier Dental keeps dentists in mind when developing new products. They know that clinicians want treatment simplicity, easy handling, and stress-free cleanup. To that end, ZR-Cem does not require pre-treatment of the prepared tooth or priming of the zirconia surface. However, clinicians should still prepare the intaglio surface of the crown by cleansing or sandblasting before cementation. Once the area is isolated and the tooth is slightly moist, the material can simply be dispensed into the crown and then seated. And because the cement is dualcured for optimal viscosity, it’s easy to handle and clean up. In addition, ZR-Cem doesn’t require refrigeration. It can be stored at room temperature without diminishing its effectiveness.
Ease of cleanup has always been a top priority for Dr. Pasenkoff. “It’s number one,” he said. “I’ve used cements that can take up to a half hour to remove excess. That’s a problem.”
Built for Patient Satisfaction
In the end, all any dentist wants is a happy patient. Combining top-notch clinical skill with the best possible instruments and materials is the surest way to achieve that goal. One material that provides the restorative results patients desire is zirconia, so choosing a cement like ZR-Cem that’s uniquely designed to meet the needs of this particular material (which presents some challenges with regard to bonding) is essential to treatment success. While ZR-Cem is optimized for zirconia restorations, it also is appropriate for all other crown substrates, including glass ceramics, metal, and gold.
Dr. Pasenkoff can attest to that equation (clinical skills + materials = success). “I had a case where I couldn’t get the proper bond to the zirconium with the previous cement I was using,” he explained. “I refined my technique and used ZR-Cem. It was a challenging situation. Maybe I did something and the chemistry of ZR-Cem was better than the previous cement, but it worked. I haven’t had any more problems with the crown falling off.”
Dr. Pasenkoff described his opinion of ZR-Cem as straightforward: “I would recommend ZR-Cem to anyone. It’s a good product.
