That’s one of the things a user had to say in his customer review of Surpass, Vista Apex's adhesive system. “The most reliable adhesive I have ever used” is another one. And: “The keystone in my restorative.”
“Surpass” is an apt product name, if you go by more than a dozen DPS reviewers’ remarks over the last 4 years. I find it interesting to look up the meaning of words now that you can just Google them, especially if it’s a dental product name. By definition, “surpass” means to:
1. exceed; be greater than.
synonyms: excel, exceed, transcend, outdo, outshine, outstrip, outclass, overshadow, eclipse; improve on, top, trump, cap, beat, better, outperform.
According to Vista Apex, Surpass has been shown to do all of the above when compared to other adhesives in terms of: providing the highest bond strengths on the market, eliminate postoperative sensitivity, being simple and intuitive to use. Yet another reviewer wrote:
“I’ve been using Surpass as the only adhesive necessary for all bonding procedures since 2006. In the over 30 years that I’ve been doing adhesive dentistry, Surpass is by far the most reliable adhesive I have ever used. Clinical results back this up! One of the products that I would fight to keep!”
Surpass has only one 35-second, 3-step technique for all procedures. Indications for use are all-encompassing:
- • Direct Restorations: to seal enamel/dentin prior to restoring with light-cure or self-cure composite material
- • Indirect Restorations: bonding light-cured, self-cured, or dual-cured composite cements, or glass ionomer or resin-modified glass ionomer cements
- • Bonding CEREC restorations
- • Desensitization: to treat hypersensitive and/or exposed root surfaces
- • Desensitizing crown preparations
- • Sealing preparations before placing amalgams
- • Bonding crowns and bridges
- • Bonding in posts and cores
- • Bonding veneers
Among its attributes, it can be light cured in 10 seconds with any type of curing light, and it can be used with any type of restorative material. The bonding resin links the primed surface to all self-cure, dual-cure, or light-cure restorative materials, so you can use what you like.
And the reviews go on:
“Strong, easy to apply, no post-op sensitivity, and the best customer service in the business. What’s not to love?”
“The instructions are easy to understand and simple.”
“And as an exponential bonus, Apex has a forum that can be used to ask questions and discuss issues about their products with its founder and the “father of wet-bonding” (Quintessence Int. 1992; 23:39–41), Dr. John Kanca. How cool is that?”
