Directa Dental is thinking longterm with its new environmentally friendly fossil free aspirator tube.

The company understands the environmental impact of product production and waste, especially when it comes to plastic litter. So Directa has added Hygovac Bio, an aspirator tube manufactured from renewable resources, to its popular Hygovac line.

Hygovac Bio is unique because it even though it’s disposable, it’s made from 100 percent bio-based polyethylene, a polyethylene entirely made from renewable sugarcanes. Traditional polyethylene comes from fossil raw materials such as oil and natural gas.

When bio-based products are recycled, the same amount carbon dioxide that was captured during the sugarcane cultivation process is released. What’s more, the sugarcane is harvested in a socially responsible manner from Brazil.

Hygovac Bio is available in two new lengths, 95mm and 120mm. The tube still have the same diameter and provide the same suction as other Hygovac products, as well as one traditional 45 degree end and one S-shaped end for increased patient comfort. The shorter version is ideal for giving hygienists easier access when working without assistance.

Directa also identified these choices with the environment in mind. Having two options provide clinicians the opportunity to broaden the application of patient use. Meanwhile, less material is used producing the product, and less storage space is required in the clinic.

Plus, the tubes are green as a reminder of the important step you’re taking toward helping the environment.
