While there’s something to be said for slow and steady, don’t we all like fast and easy better? Especially if it means less chairtime, cleanup, wasted material, and cost?
Septodont’s BioRoot RCS is a mineral-based root canal sealer that makes life a little less complicated for both general dentists and endodontists. It is resin-free, monomer-free, eugenol-free, hydrophilic, and has demonstrated excellent adhesion to dentin and gutta-percha points. It is also gentle on the pulp and tissue, reducing sensitivity and pain, does not stain teeth, and has good radiopacity.
Because you hand-mix BioRoot, you control the final viscosity. You can control the setting time, too. It is designed to be used in cold single-cone or cold-lateral condensation, and its flowability enables it to fill auxiliary canals, and coat root canal walls predictably and nearly effortlessly. Its formulation results in a working time of at least 10 minutes and setting in less than 4 hours.
Here’s what DPS evaluators had to say about it:
“The customized powder-liquid mixture provided a cost-effective option.”
“The basic pH [of BioRoot] helps to kill bacteria that may remain in the canal and prevent future growth in case of leakage or failure of root canal therapy.”
“Favorite feature is its ability to seal in a wet field.”
