Building Bone for Implant Success
Cutting-edge bone-grafting materials and membranes promote new bone formation and create a barrier against soft-tissue ingrowth during osseointegration
Statistics drawn from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons reveal that nearly 70% of adults have lost at least one permanent tooth due to an accident, gum disease, a failed root canal, or tooth decay. Due to resorption of the alveolar bone, these patients in particular may need bone grafting procedures prior to implant therapy.

Bicon’s SynthoGraft is a synthetic, biocompatible, and resorbable granulate ceramic made of pure-phase beta- tricalcium phosphate. It can be used as a matrix for oral and maxillofacial bone regeneration or augmentation. With both micro- and macro-porosity, SynthoGraft has a greater surface area compared to similar materials, which allows for excellent bone regeneration.
Septodont’s R.T.R. Syringe is a sterile, gradually resorbable betatricalcium phosphate bone-grafting material that releases calcium and phosphate ions to help promote new bone formation and renew bone integrity within 3 to 6 months.
Derived from bovine tendon, the Type 1 collagen used in Zimmer Biomet’s BioMend membrane is among the most important stress-carrying components for wound stabilization. BioMend acts as a barrier to prevent epithelial cell migration and allow the passage of essential nutrients. It is absorbed in approximately 8 weeks, while BioMend Extend is absorbed in about 18 weeks.
Indicated for ridge preservation, minor bone augmentation, and periodontal regeneration, Geistlich Bio-Oss Collagen is comprised of 90% Geistlich Bio-Oss granules and 10%
porcine collagen, which makes the material formable and easy to mold and adhere to the defect site.
Sunstar's GUIDOR easy-graft CLASSIC is the first particulate bone grafting material to be syringed directly into a bone defect. When mixed with the liquid activator BioLinker, it forms a moldable material that hardens into a porous scaffold in about a minute.
A resorbable tissue matrix made from Type-I bovine collagen, Dentsply Sirona’s Symbios OsteoShield features multilayer construction to prevent soft-tissue infiltration and allow bone healing with surrounding tissue, while preventing bacterial ingrowth. Either side of the membrane may face the defect site.
Part of its creos allograft line, Nobel Biocare creos allo.gain is a particulate that blends 70% mineralized and 30% demineralized cortical bone to offer the benefits of both strong structural support and fast bone formation.
