A Faster Cut for Less Chair Time

Dr. Dory Stutman
This month's "Damn Good Dentist," Dr. Dory Stutman, discusses the myriad benefits of using a fastcutting, single-use bur. Dr. Dory Stutman is not one to underestimate the value of a clean cut from a high-quality bur. When comparing the various diamonds and carbides on the market, he looks for instruments that offer a smooth cutting performance, reduce hand fatigue, and improve the overall patient experience by decreasing chair time.

NeoDiamond Burs from Microcopy“A great selection of shapes and designs has allowed me to use Microcopy burs almost exclusively for many years,” shared Dr. Stutman, who uses NeoBurr NeoMax Carbide Metal Cutters and NeoDiamond burs in his Massapequa Park, NY, practice. “The single-patient-use burs maintain their cutting ability during multiple tooth preparations,” he added.

A single-piece construction of tungsten carbide, NeoBurr NeoMax maintains durability while providing fast cutting action through amalgam, composites, and semi- and non-precious metals. NeoDiamond exposes 20% more diamond cutting surface than competing burs, and because each bur is disposable, the tips cut clear, crisp margins every time.

“Patients always like to see instruments coming straight out of the single-use packet,” Dr. Stutman noted. “It reassures them that the bur is sterile vs. when they see previously used burs on a bur block.”
