Eight dental professionals participated in this Dental Product Shopper evaluation of the CS 1500, rating features such as ease of use, ease of integration, and image detail/sharpness.
Ease of Use
Manufacturer Description: Because the CS 1500 requires no manual adjustments, capturing images is easy and fast. The camera’s single image capture button generates high-resolution images and automatically saves them to the computer or an SD card.
Evaluator Feedback: The CS 1500’s ease of use was rated as excellent or very good by 63% of the evaluators. An evaluator from Racine, WI, who noted that the CS 1500 was much better than similar products, said, “Not only is it a great image, it’s [also] USB portable which makes it even more user friendly. [I] liked it enough to purchase a second [unit] for [my] hygienists.” This same evaluator said he would definitely use the CS 1500 again in the future and recommend it to his colleagues.
Ease of Integration
Manufacturer Description: The wireless version of the CS 1500 provides freedom of movement without any connections between the camera and docking station, resulting in a seamless workflow and user experience. TWAIN compliance ensures the camera integrates easily with third-party dental imaging software.
Evaluator Feedback: A dentist who rated all features of the CS 1500 as excellent said, “[The CS 1500] integrates well with existing technology.” Another evaluator said, “[I liked] the cordless feature with the ability to move from room to room without purchasing an excessive amount of cameras.”
When asked how the CS 1500 could be improved, one evaluator noted, “[The] WiFi connection [could] be slightly quicker to pick up the camera,” while a Hudsonville, MI, dentist in practice for 35 years said, “[I would like the] speed of picking up [the] camera to be [faster] to acquire images.”
Image Detail/Sharpness

Evaluator Feedback: All 8 evaluators rated the CS 1500’s image detail/sharpness as excellent. Two of the evaluators said that what they liked best about the product was the “image quality,” while 2 other evaluators said, “[The CS 1500 produced] clear images.”
Overall Satisfaction
Seven evaluators called the CS 1500 much or somewhat better than similar products with comments such as, “[It’s] easy to use,” “[It produces] quality images,” and “Both my team and patients like it.” A dentist in practice for 21 years said, “After my initial purchase, I now own 3; [the CS 1500 is a] great product.” This same evaluator also added that, “The quality, ease of use, and patient friendliness are paramount.”
